Best advaneture for Orks

By IanBear1, in Rogue Trader

Hi guys,

I'm trying to do a one/two shot for my group to get them into Rogue Trader. They want to play as a group of Orks, which I think will be pretty fun, but I'm wondering which of the published adventures will fit best? Any suggestions welcome...

Hmm.... I'd say that Forsaken bounty would take the least shoehorning but none of the published adventures so far are really made with orks in mind...

I can't think of a published adventure that would make for a good Orky one-shot. Besides, most one-shots are best tailored for the pre-gen PCs that will be involved. As such, you should create the pre-gens, write up their background, develop their relationships, provide distinct motivations, then built the one-shot around those PCs.

Good Orky One-Shots!

1) Ah Hoy! - Ork freebooterz are the bread 'n butter of Rogue Trader. Make a group of Flash Gitz Freebooterz set out to plunder. From book the main you could use an Ork Raider then add a few "adjustments" just to make it their own. Give their vehicle a history. Gear their Endeavor towards attacking a variety of vessels, boarding actions, and fleeing from the authorities. Every PC should have an Ammo Runt at their disposal.

2) Sneaky Gitz! - The PCs are like Deathwatch Marines, only WAY more Orky. They're Commandoes like the A-Team (although O-Team would be more fittin'). A typical Endeavor could by the PCs (all pre-gen) are hired to seek out and eliminate the competition. Maybe they have to get rid of a rival warboss. Maybe another Rogue Trader called them in to rid a Xenos world of a Crime Boss (like a Jabba the Zoat) so they can expand trade safely. Perhaps they're the strike force of an Umee Trader and they lead daring raids on worlds and other ships. You'll want Sniffer Squigs and Bomb Squigs, maybe a "Point Runt" to scout ahead.

3) Mutiny on the Bounty! - Ork life is nasty, brutish, and green! The PCs are on a Rok and there's talk of Mutiny. Depending on the history, relationships, and disposition of the PCs (all pregen) they should have the skillz and toolz to help them in their one shot. Are they leading the mutiny? Or are they trying to quell it? Such a one-shot makes for great search and discovery type games. Alternatively, the PCs could be Flash Gitz who are charged with quelling the rebellion with Superior Tek! Or maybe the PCs are the biggest and the meanest (Hulking) and the Kaptin puts them into action. Just be sure the PCs get to keep any teef they kick out.

The pre-gen adventures look for longevity (something a campaign strives for) while one-shots need to act more like a mini-series event - Fast, Exciting, and full of Drama.
