non co-op, non solo, unpainted minis, 80$ price tag...but it looks interesting, the Tindalos looks cool. But wait - what is this "Arkham Horror Files" tag attached to this product? A sign that AH is done, or that there are going to be more Lovecraft themed games abead?

Personally not a must have for me, but if it plays well, I may pick it up. The potential for expansion is sick.

It intrigues me, kind of like a mix between Arkham, Descent, and Clue. I wish I could make it out to Arkham Nights, just to see this sucker in action.

Edit: I also noticed on MoM's front page that one of the investigators looks like Jenny Barnes with a single gun. I wonder if there will be cross promotion of already existing characters, or if possibly FFG will do what they started with DungeonQuest and include character sheets for the related older games inside the new games with the new characters.

Of course, with the Terrinoth games, you only need one sheet per game (and at the most a familiar token for Descent). If they were to include new AH character sheets in MoM, they will also need to make personal story cards. Hmm, it could be possible.

Looks cool, though very reminiscent of the Betrayal at House on the HIll board game. Which I definitely liked, and I remember the few times I played it that a specifically Lovecraftian version would be cool. Can't wait to try it out at Arkham Nights. Incidentally, I think BHH also sold for 80.

Those minis in MoM look incredible! If FFG think straight, they should be able to mass produce minis that can be used for both AH and Mom, thus making a viable product. The slots look usable for the chits in AH. The tittle 'Arkham Horror Files' suggests their's hope for integration? Maybe a collector's version of Arkham Horror is in the pipeline? Whatever happens, this new game looks very, very interesting...

I cant' say I'm happy, nor that I'm completely disappointed. Don't know. I was really hoping for another MoM game... (Mountains of Madness)
I'm just wondering whether it was such a compulsory thing producing *another* game with a dude playing the bad guy and the others trying to beat him (a la Doom or Fury of Dracula). I won't say it's a bad thing, but well, my heart was struggling for something different.

I will definately buy it. I like the theme, the fact that it is a FF game so I know components will be good. I can see some similarity to other games but that won't bother me personally. Looks like it could have many expansions. I think that character looks like Jenny also, if it has crossover with AH that would be nice. I do hope for more AH expansions however.

I think the idea of clues going with a certain story and the investigators investigating a certain story line sounds cool.

I thought the same thing. But I'm absolutely getting it. I really like the heavy story aspect it seems to have.

I'm pretty sure the retail price was never that high. The reprint coming out in a few weeks is only $50.

This is exactly where I am. I would love to scavenge this for the monster figures, and I must admit I love how FFG brings the production values when it goes to the 1920s, but if this is gonna end up like Descent, where someone has to spend the game separate from the "good guys", I'm just not sure I'm gonna get a whole lot of play out of it. Not after everyone got hooked on AH Co-op.

I hope there will be an adequate fan-method to "fake a keeper" so maybe I can solo it.

*nods and goes to sit next to Julia and jgt.*

hmm, Im wondering who designed this new game. Is this what became of Trail of the Brotherhood Kevin?

Very curious... There must be some crossover with AH: apart from the enigmatic "Arkham Horror Files", the Arkham Horror logo is at the top of the box.

Ergo, it must be specifically part of the Arkham Horror franchise. Anyone care to speculate on how the cross-interactivity may work?

It probably doesn't, but you may be able to use the AH investigators and monster tokens if you modify them. Other than that I really don't think there's any interactivity, and I wouldn't hold my breath that there's supposed to be.

The monster figures have a slot for a token, and it makes sense that it would fit the AH monster tokens. That would be a pretty huge misstep if it didn't.

You may be right. I probably checked it out before I was used to every game being 50 bucks :)

But then why would FF bother slapping the AH logo on there?

To link the new game with a game that's already popular in the minds of people thinking of buying it.

If FFG is going to make a game with swords and sorcery, they'll set it in Terrinoth (Descent, Runebound, Dungeonquest, etc). If they're going to make a game set in 1920s Lovecraft Country (New England), they're going to set it in "Arkham Horror". Name brand recognition.

I would guess, like all the Terrrinoth games, character sheets won't be compatible, but they might all star the same people. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Joe and Jenny (Harvey, Mandy, Michael, Carolyn) in this new one, or any 1920s game to come afterwards.

money in the bank for FF. i will buy this. looks way awsome. nice

A must buy for my Mythos fixbabeo.gif

I have to say when I logged on and saw it I thought it might be a new board expansion for AH. I will be interested to see how this develops. I love the apparently story heavy theme they have but I worry about the replayability if you are stuck in scenario play.

All that said and knowing me though I will probably want and get it lol

Cool cant have too many Lovecraft inspired gameshappy.gif I dont have any, just bought Arkham Horror, this sounds cool, wouldnt mind getting it some day

Reminds me of the old Dungeons and Dragon books, where it say "go to this page to do this" or "go to this page to do that" and depending on which page you choose you go on a different quest.

I actually made an online version of this many years ago
