Sprint Trader Bellerophon (Orion-class star clipper)

By Todtsteltzer, in Rogue Trader

Here is a vessel that I intend to use in our DH campaign...

Bellerophon

Hull: Transport
Class: Modified Orion-class star clipper
Dimensions: 3 km long, 0.4 km abeam at fins approx.
Mass: 8 megatonnes approx.
Crew: 14.000 crew, approx.
Accel: 5.4 gravities max acceleration
The Bellerophon is a truly ancient and haunted vessel. Fragments found in its oldest and deepest data vaults suggest that it was built in the dread Mandragora Sector in M38, though the exact date is unknown. An enterprising Rogue Trader wrested the heavily damaged hull from the Space Hulk Infinite Oblivion when it passed through the Hazeroth Abyss in 712.M40. After extensive repairs and refits, the Bellerophon was sold to a chartist captain plying the space lanes of the Calixis Sector. In 815.M41, the Bellerophon's captain, one Balthus Mecather, was captured by Inquisitorial agents on Solomon for his involvement with the criminal organization known as the Serrated Query. After Captain Mecather's execution for treason, his vessel was seized and subsequently refitted by the Holy Ordos. Now, the Bellerophon serves the Inquisition as fast courier and spy vessel.

Speed: 12
Manoeuvrability: +31
Detection: +15
Hull Integrity: 38
Armour: 13
Turret Rating: 1
Space: 40 (Used: 40)
Power: 40 (Used: 40)

Cargo Hauler: This vessel was designed for transporting goods, and no amount of retrofitting can fully change this. This hull comes pre-equipped with one Main Cargo Hold Component (see page 203). The hull’s Space has already been reduced to account for this, however, when the ship is constructed it must be able to provide 2 Power to this Component.

Fast Ship: Due to the precisely calibrated nature of this ship, it cannot be equipped with Components that increase its Armour.

Essential Components

What do you think?

Silent Run at Speed: 6.

It looks fast. If you give it the Planet Bound for Millenia package, you can add an extra Archeatech device, this might help some. The Bridge of Antiquity would free up some points.

I'm sure your DH party will be happy with it. low profile, some protection, and it's fast.

This orion ship looks very similar with our ship, Elysium :D but with Planet-bound-for-millennia

Anyways, I found a picture saying that it's an Orion-class ship. Any comments on it?

It is unlikely that is an Orion. It obviously has port and starboard weapons, the Orion has dorsal and the super sought after keel weapons (lets hear it for being able to shoot behind).

It's (a bigger version of) the picture right under the Orion's entry in Into the Storm, it's certeinly not a Cobra (on the next page) and probably not a Loki (the preceding entry) so I think it is the Orion.

Don't assume that the artwork is necessarily placed to reflect what's printed on the page.

To what purpose will this ship be put?

Missile Batteries are pretty terrible. Is there a reason for using them apart for space/power requirements?

As others have said, though, this is FAST. And MANOEUVRABLE.

Since it's for a DH campaign, and an NPC ship, I don't really know why you'd need to score it. But...

Why would a ship with atomics be entrusted to a bunch of Inquisitorial acolytes?

Atomics makes little sence, read correclty the atomics description, they are not powerful, they are simply dirty. Most macro-battery will have the power of am atomic, now what you may wanted to put there was an Exterminatus.

The description also says that each one is powerful enough to level a hive spire. Sooo... not sure where you're getting your info from.

Cyclonic Torpedoes coming in Battlefleet Koronus. You heard it here first.
