A rather nice little space exploration vehicle: one can imagine Rogue Traders would keep a few of these sort of sealed environmental rovers kicking around, too.

Seems a bit small scale for the Imperium of Man. I imagine their version would be something like the Hephaestus Ore Seeker, but equipped with survey and laboratory functions instead of mining gear. It'd probably have a few smaller vehicles like that one in the vehicle bays though.
For making the 40K version of a rover, I'd say just do another conversion of the ever-popular Rhino APC. My own rule of thumb if a vehicle is needed is to think on whether a Rhino could be modified to do the job, and if so say this modification already exists in some archive. It's what the 40K background seems to use the all-purpose workhorse for.
Personally, I'd think the Venator-Pattern Air Yacht would make a great rover. Give it an environmental seal and it's going to cross any terrain and be safe from any native creatures that can't fly.
I like it. A vehicle like that would, with some minor adjustments, fit right into the 40k setting. Less sophisticated with more knobs and pulleys and of course a bolter for self-defense.
Just wondering about the Rhino, what does the fluff say about promethium engines working in near vacuum?
Callidia: I think the Rhino can be made to run on almost anything from fusion to wood, so that wouldn't be an issue.
And that rover is so cool! But even epicer is the six-legged 6 meter high walker what also presented there (a link to vid was in the one Lightbringer provided). That would be epic to have in RT (and in real life as well). Hmm.. Perhaps the Admech could have found out some really old schematics..
