I was considering starting a new Dark Heresy campaign for my players where the PC's are Company men. I was wondering if any one else had tried something similar and what problems they had found.
Company men
You might want to explain what exactly you have in mind a little more clearly. Are you referring to a shadowrun-like campaign where the PCs do the dirty work of corporations?
My first guess was that "company" refers to the military unit.
Isn't that one of the campaign start ideas listed already? Washouts/bad situation types from the Imperial military forces that get force recruited because of a manpower sortage?
Yes, I was referring to something Shadowrunesque. I just thought it would be interesting to see how the players coped with a different set of restrictions.
I may be the only one, but I don't see a reason you can't run a 'Shadowrun' campaign with DH rules. Ok, maybe you keep everyone human, but they're still runners. The Fantasy Flight Rules Enforcement Team isn't going to shoot teargas in your windows if you neglect to add the Inquisition into your campaign. I've ran a ruffian campaign for a while, I planned on having them be bounty hunters until they were noticed by the inquisition.
The players seemed to enjoy the bite-sized stories as the overall campaign slowly formed. Each session could have been a standalone, unrelated to all the others, but it helped build the characters and get a feel for the world before I injected the merciliess fist of the inquisition.
Do what you want man, just make it fun.
NOTE: We never got to the Inquisition part, they had too much fun blowing things up and getting paid for it. How am I to begrudge my players a good time?
