Quachil Uttaus

By Caputo, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

A question came up in a game with this GOO recently. What happens if the first player is devoured due to non dust deck reasons (in our case due to Ursula getting 2 addiction cards)? Does the replacement character continue being the first player and carry on from whatever point of the dust deck their predecessor ended on or does the first player token move on, or do we just reset the dust deck as if the first player had been devoured bu it?

Thanks

I'm not sure there's an official ruling on it, and I don't have QU's sheet in front of me, but if it came up in a game I suspect I'd pass the first player token to the next player.

IIRC, Kevin gave a ruling that you do pass the first player token upon a devouring, but I don't think we've gotten a clarification as to whether the Dust decks re-set if a non-Quachil devouring happens.

Obviously, they should reset, since Quachil has to start his stalking procedure once again.

I agree, but could be that QU has powered up his Dusting while tracking victim #1, so he can hunt victim #2 at his powered-up level. So QU himself only powers down after he personally devours an investigator gui%C3%B1o.gif . And the only resetter in the Dust deck is in deck #3, with no instructions to reset it except via that card.

It's akin to a mercenary who gets hired to kill someone; he stalks the person for weeks and then sees his target getting run over by a bus. Mission accomplished.

Now, amassing information on the next victim...

Ha, of course it's not the same, but a bit similar.;

Unless he eats his victims, in which case a non-QU devouring would leave him hungry and frustrated.
