Question about the Dunwich Horror

By MadCatDisease, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Hi, I just recently purchased the Dunwich Horror expansion and had a question about something that came up in our last game. If the Dunwich Horror is in play and you draw a mythos or location encounter card that allows you to remove all monsters at his location, is he removed from the board?

I don't think so, but I've never been in that situation. How would he get to one of those locations?

One that comes to mind is "Feds Raid Arkham" which clears all streets of monsters (since 99.9% of the time the DH sits at Sentinel Hill). But the DH is a Spawn monsters and spawns are immune to "return to cup" effects.

I was looking for something that said that, where is that information found, because I never saw it under the headings for Spawn Monsters or The Dunwich Horror in the instruction manual.

Huh, you're right. It mentions that they don't get mixed into the cup, and can't be claimed as trophies, etc, but there's nothing about return to cup effects (unless we've gotten that from a faq or WoG). Although it does seem a logical enough consequence that they can't be "returned" to a cup that they didn't come from.

(Edited)

Whoops... I posted in the wrong thread!

Since spawn monsters don't belong in the cup, they can't be returned to the cup.

"5. Do "return monsters to the cup" effects work on Spawn monster or no? Can the Feds Raiding Arkham actually get rid of the Dunwich Horror? (06/13/08)
No. Spawn monsters should never returned to the cup by card effects like "Feds Raid Arkham". "

the sticky "Official Answers from Kevin Wilson" thread on the first page gui%C3%B1o.gif .

First rule of Arkham: Follow the Phases

Second rule of Arkham: Read the rules, re-read the rules (a few times), read the FAQ, re-read the FAQ (a few times), read important sticky threads, re-read important sticky threads, read all threads (or at least those that seem to pertain to rules issues, but should read all), re-read all threads (oh, both here and on BGG gran_risa.gif ). Then memorize the rules and rulings changes. Maybe play sometime later.

Of course, I did have an idea—there's nothing stopping someone from fusing the two signs together:

I think this might be in the wrong thread gran_risa.gif

So, does this mean I can't blow up the Dunwich Horror with a Time Bomb?

****.

Nope. But you can use Flute of the Outer Gods or Blue Watcher of the Pyramids against it, I think.
