People who are going to pirate this game are going to pirate this game regardless of there being a legally available PDF or a fan-scanned copy. This is inevitable. But a released and fully searchable/indexed PDF is a very useful thing. I'd buy that.

I don't buy BattleTech books in 'dead tree' format (as they're called over there). I only buy the PDF's. PDF's are great.

[EDIT]: Also, PDF's mean updates are easier to distribute. I got an E-mail today from the BattleTech BattleShop saying an updated version of the latest TRO had been released and as I had bought it from them I got the upgrade for free.
