Just wondering how many people would be interested in playing TOI on the PS3 or Xbox 360?
Tide of Iron for PS3
Heck yes i would! Lots of different competition with online play.
That would really be awesome.
I have seen now what Days of Wonder is doing with Smallworld and Memoir 44 and I think FFG can't stay behind...
I recall an announcement a couple of years ago indicating that Tide of Iron was going to be released for Xbox Live. I cannot recall if there was ever an official announcement stating that the idea had been dropped. Either way it never did come to pass.
I agree, it would definately be a good idea, but I personally would not go for it as I appreciate both the "social" and the "tactile" aspects of boardgaming. Rolling a big handfull of dice, the smell of the box contents, pushing plastic around, having a laugh with (sometimes at...depending on your familiarity with them of course) your opponent, a handshake at the end of game, drinks and snacks during the proceedings etc, are all part of the game experience for me.
While I would not get into it myself, I would fully encourage somebody to adapt it into a computer game version. It would be a good way of introduction for those who have never before considered wargames, boardgames etc.
I agree that the actual board game is better, but no one plays it with me and the op fire rule makes it kind of disappointing to play alone, therefore, I want a PS3 version
Well of course the real thing will still be better but an xbox version would be nice when you dont have an opponent, which is most of the time for me. Also with a game you could try out different tactics, and then find out the best one to apply when it really matters against a real opponent.
But if there was an announcement a few years back and it was never officially dropped it may still come out. A lot of times companies will put off something for years in order to develop a different game they would rather have first. I specifically remember this happening with a couple games that were supposed to be for xbox original and ended up on 360; thats how long they got pushed back. More commonly, sometimes a publisher will a game and it might be a while until it gets picked up by another.
But after writing all that i would say that chances are that it was dropped
