Which should your initiate bump up to a 5? WP or Fel? Which is more important, in your opinion, Invocation or Piety (curry favour)?

What's more important is the character's personality, background, and nature. Decisions like this ought to be based on those factors, and in some cases a character might be defined by being particularly poor in both Invocation and Piety, but quite clever (a Verenan observer) or quite strong or tough (an Ulrican enforcer). A charismatic preacher might have a good Fellowship score, and a blood-and-thunder rabble rouser might be driven by a strong Willpower. In other words, which characteristic is more or less important, or irrelevant, should depend entirely on the individual character, regardless of a career's Primary Characteristics or Skills.

I want him to be able to cast blessings well in battle (Sigmar). Is invocation or piety more important?

I would do the WP myself, higher Equilibrium meaning more blessings done without currying, resist that fear and terror better, carry more stress before collapsing.
The career ability will give a fortune die to help the Invocation checks.
Narratively, Sigmarites may be inspiring by their example but I don't see them as "more charming than they are certain of themselves" - but as noted a particular character concept may differ.
Remember that some of your hardest hitting spells as a sigmarite are cast with Weapon Skill (ST). I am finding a rythm where I don't curry and instead use weapon strikes with high crit potential to generate favor then unleash a sigmar's hammer. Oh and cast a lasting buff beforehand (Battle Fervor etc).
