Brief Koronus Expanse summary?

By EvgO, in Rogue Trader

So, we had a blast with DH and switched to RT recently, as some of our friends left for another country. Still having a blast!..but..

Does RT have a list of planets, similar to the one they had for DH? Like, you know, this one http://app.fantasyflightgames.com/dark-heresy/calixis.shtml?

Because navigating Koronus seems difficult.. Or do we have to wait for the new book, for a list of places of interest? You know, it's just convenient to have a list like that..

Koronus has a map:-

And a forthcoming supplement, Edge of the Abyss, will contain a lot of material about the region:-

The impression I get though is that Koronus is being deliberately left a little bit...empty in comparison to, for example, the Calixis Sector, to represent the fact that it's an unexplored region, and to encourage GMs to produce their own material. Lure the the Expanse, for example, contains worlds that aren't on the Koronus map, and I imagine that will probably continue. The map is really a chart of noteworthy, charted features, not a map in the same way as the Calixis Sector.

Koronus Expanse is deliberatly sandbox to make Rogue trader what its meant to be a exploration game. Think of the few planets mentioned as the ones that most rogue traders know exist. The rest are hearsay rumour or conjecture (Read about the medievel legend of the Kingdom of Prester John in Africa to get a idea of what Im talking about). The Imperium is badly mapped anyway and the expanse is worse! Between the known worlds theres probably hundreds of thousands of systems yet to be discovered and surveyed, and those or the ones that arent cut off by localised warp storms.

In a way I hope the Edge of Abyss will have an expanded system generation system and one for xenos. The One in the GM's hand book is actually in a some ways less complex than some of the rules in Battlefleet Gothic and it would be nice to have the xenos generator from the DH Gm's Guide available too. Part of the joy of the 1st Ed Rogue Trader 40k was the sheer weird randomness of the generator tables, and I think FF RT would benefit from that kind of idea considering the background of the game.
