Huzzah! Muchos appreciation for this Magus - my best friend and I will do our best to make it if we can!

This is fantastic. Unfortunately 2nd Oct is out the question for myself but I will pass this on to the others but Nov is a deffinate, count me in.

I should be able to make it in November and I'll try to make it to the October date as well.

In for both.

Prepare to bend your respective knees.

(Don't know if this got mentioned before, but amusingly geeky trash-talk is kind of mandatory in this type of thread)

There should be atleast 4 of us coming in november.

That's great news!

Thanks a bunch for organising this! See you there.

November is definite, I'll try and make it down for the October date.

LoneWanderer - you might as well just scoop 'em up as soon as I walk through the door, pal. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Should we discuss formats? Sounds like LoneWanderer is bringing some sort of Hyper Kneel Lannister deck. Are we bringing tourney standard decks or would anyone want to do a homebrew storyline league. I'd like the Meet to appeal to all standards with the aim of raising the standard of British players and conquering Europe and the World!!! Sorry, I've had a bit to drink.

Seriously, any views on this?

Well, my friend and I have been playing with the core decks until recently - we just branched out and have been experimenting with the three expansions so we are nowhere near building tournament worthy decks. We were hoping these meets might be a nice informal way of meeting some other players, experiencing melee (which, with only two of us playing, we have yet to enjoy!) and clarifying any rules we may have been confused about. But that's not to say we aren't willing to get competitive - I can definitely see us eventually purchasing all the chapter packs and someday building competitive decks. For now though, I would be happy to just see who appears at the first meet and discover the standards of the people playing.

I'll probably bring a couple of very shoddy decks that I use casually. Conquering Europe and the world though? That may have to wait a while Magus :P

Likewise, I'm using this as a way of seeing what kind of scene there and to meet new people as it'd be awesome to set up a future tournament. I'd also like to see if there is anything that we are doing wrong, and where I can/if necessary help out you guys with rules query's etc.

I shall bring a couple of decks, suited for Joust and Melee or just a couple of decks and see how they work for either. As for story based games... Meh, not too interested.

Personally I was just hoping to rattle through a few casual melee games.

As this is the first time out I figure that it's about meeting as many people as possible while letting the diplomacy aspect of multiplayer keep any super-competitive decks in line.

As such, I'll be rocking up with a few (pretty much theme) decks that would get stomped on in a one-v-one match, but which might be able to hold out until about turn five in a melee.

Greetings all!

This sounds like a fine idea, and assuming it's open to any passer-by on the forums I'd certainly be up for joining you all. I'm still trying to weasel out of a prior commitment on Oct 2nd, but Nov 6th should be fine.

Have only ever played joust before, and my decks have only ever been used against other decks I've created, so doubtless I'll rock up with some decks which I'm quite impressed with, but which turn out to be useless (although in fairness, remembering to use abilities/actions etc. is at least as much a problem as having the killer cards right now) Either way, am happy to try any format- my decks tend to be fairly themed -i.e. no Martell-Wildling combos, but no qualms about shoving all three Baratheon brothers in the same deck.

Out of interest, how much is this whole business likely to cost (i.e. cost of the room we're meeting in). Also, someone who knows London, roughly how long will it take to reach this place from St. Pancras?

Jim, it'll take no longer than 10 minutes on the Northern line to get to London Bridge underground station, and it shouldn't be more than a 5 min walk from there!

Hi there, I'm one of the guys mentioned by Mat-not in his post.

Can't make the 2nd but really looking forward to the meet on the 6th, especially to play melee against other players to see how you play and construct decks. Probably bringing my Targ attachment deck.

cheers

Guy

Hi

I'll be bringing some rubbish decks, probably some Stark thing. The event/room hire is free. As it's a pub I would suggest that it would be polite to buy food and drink there. Check the TFL website to see if there are any engineering works going on. Lots of buses go past the place also.

I'll most likely be bringing along my Stark deck and a Baratheon deck (Depending on when I get a copy of Kings of the Storm). Should be fun! :D

Hi guys I hope this is still good to go, my girlfriend and I plan to come down next week, bit of a pricey run from Bath but we want to suppport a growing uk community for this game so I thought it would be worth trying to boost the numbers of the first event :-). I can't promise you amazing competition, due to still being quite new to this game and having limited cards to use but we will endevor to make our decks tournement legal to come play with you guys (besides there has to be some one to lose on saturday right?).

Good lord...

There I was thinking that the journey from Camden was a long one.

See you next week!

Much respect coming from Bath - I'll certainly be buying you some drinks. Don't worry about tourney legal - come down, have fun etc.

Ironic that we're meeting the same day as the new block is released in MtG

It's tomorrow guys! Mega looking forward to this - see y'all there! :D

Hey, Hope all went well today.
Decent turn out?

Looking forward to Nov 6th. See y'all then. happy.gif

Yeah it was good - 7 of us turned up in all. A few melee games were played, it was good fun and I'll definitely come again in November.

I think I have already started a meta against Winter. Playing Greyjoy Winter in a 6 player melee where no one else is playing any Seasons sure pisses a lot of people off...... :P

But I'd like to thank The Magus again for organizing yesterday, myself and Scott had a great time and it was a good learning experience. I just remembered that I didn't buy you a drink Magus, remind me next time - I'll get the first round in!

Thanks to all who turned up. Plenty of melee action. And particular thanks to our visitors from Bath. I'll set up a new thread for the November meet so we can discuss what gets played. We could do a Joust tourney. I'm going to have to get Kings of the Storm after my Baratheon deck faded (14 POWER!!! so close). And Rydo - don't worry about the drinks. I brought down the pain on you for the Winter misery you brought. gran_risa.gif

Hey guys just wanted to say how much fun Alexandra and myself had, even though it was a dreadful long journey back (traffic in london died last night) we still both said that it was great and we would be happy to come again. Not only fun to play melee since we had never had enough people before but to see the other types of decks and to share other deck ideas and see what was working was great for us. Also great choice of location Magus and thanks for setting it up, although I would have wished we could have stayed for longer to watch what we expected to be a master class from Chris.

P.S. Alexandra was miffed about not winning that game on the last turn although I am thinking next melee I will be the target of her revenge lol.
