The purpose of this thread is to collect written backgrounds or descriptions of Collectors Edition Marines into one place. The idea is that the thread would eventually form a list of several dozen (eventually several hundred maybe? or even 2000?) thought out characters aspiring Deathwatch Gamemasters can use to spice up their campaigns. Thus I ask everyone who has answered the Collectors Edition rollcall to take a few minutes to write a bit about "their own marine" and post it here. Submissions of all lenghts are equally welcome.
So, now that you know what this is about, here is mine. Read and enjoy:
Frater Astrotechnicus Mikail
Chapter: Raven Guard
Mikail is slightly shorter than average marine. His white skin and raven black hair betray mark him unmistakably as a member of Raven Guard chapter. The myriad grey tattoos covering most of his skin are actually highly sophisticated form of electrical interface weaved into his carapace allowing him to communicate with machine spirits almost instantly. Along his spine goes a tubular shell made of armored steel, titanium and ceramite housing an extremely heavy-duty power-source. Together with the interface tattoos he is able to use the power source to remotely power many typical STC constructs.
Although fully trained in the rituals of maintenance and repair the talents of frater astrotechnicus Mikail lies not in maintaining the machines, but in communicating with their spirits to extract and analyze all sorts of information. While serving Raven Guards his duty was to collect information from sensors and field units, analyzing it and refining it into actual intelligence data the Raven Guard strike-teams need to find, pre-empt and engage their targets. In Deathwatch his roles has expanded from surveillance and target acquisition to datamining the heretical machine spirits of xeno artefacts to find out important information on xeno tactics and weaknesses.
Mikails power armor is of older Mk VI “Corvus” type and looks worn on the surface. Its systems, however, are in pristine condition and its machine spirit is almost an extension of Mikails own mind. The armor is painted in typical deathwatch black with raven guard insignia on one of the shoulder pads. To signify his belonging to Cult of Mechanicus the helmet of the armor is painted the rust red of the Adeptus Mechanicus. In addition to the power armor he regularly wears a servo-harness and is at times escorted by a gun-servitor equipped with a melta-gun. As personal weapons he carries a bolt pistol and a power axe adorned with Mechanicus symbols. Mikail is known to be an especially fast and accurate shot with his bolt pistol.
