Dragonland and Timescape by Azoic are here!

By Felis, in Talisman Home Brews

First of all - I did not made those. Azoic did.

I was just waiting for them eagerly since I saw this. And they are as good as I hoped.

I JUST downloaded them so it's not a propper review, just a quick first impression.

Timescape is obviously a new incarnation of our beloved ("behated" lengua.gif) 2ED expansion. But there is something new with something old. There are a few cards that wasn't there in the old days. If someone loves Timescape - they will love a new cards as well. If someone hates Timescape - those cards will make them hate it even more gui%C3%B1o.gif. But the new cards mesh perfectly with the old ones. If you know where they are from - you know. If not - they won't bother you. And there are a few alternative endings - the Horrible Black Void makes it's comeback demonio.gif

Dragonland was a bit of a mystery. I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The board itself was ingenious. Clever use of Dungeon and Highland artwork, modified to look a little familiar but bringing a completely new quality to the board. Interesting bi-directional movement pattern... But what the cards would be like?

I was really excited to see that most of the Dragonland cards were taken from one of my favourite 2ED expansions - Dragons. There are dozens Dragons to fight and even more nice equipment to find. There are some Treasure cards - presumably a dragon's hoard. There were some cards I didn't recognised so either there are some new additions or my memory is fading gui%C3%B1o.gif.

So what are you waiting for? Grab them and play! And tell us what you think.

Dragonland is nice, wow...great job Azoic ! I think you have the right idea with the magic bow mechanic. From the home brews, I thought that being able to shoot at spaces other than the one you're currently in took things a little too far, you've got good a idea there. I've also thought that a "first strike" ability, whether attacking or defending, would be another great mechanic for bows...maybe reducing an enemies strength by one or two points depending on a die roll.

Hi Azoic,

Could you please email me off list, as I have a favour to ask of you?!

Ell.

Just...

WOW!

Hello,

May-be that there will be an update available for the unofficial
Dragonland and Timescape expansions available in the near future!
Some text must be edited on the boards and on some cards.

E.g.
Dragon Tooth (new text version)

You may cast the Dragon Tooth
to the ground at the start of any
combat. Roll 1 die. The result is
the numberof skeleton warriors
springing from the ground. Each
adds 1 to your score in this
combat. Discard the Tooth after
you have used it.

heya to all i'm a new talisman italian player, i want to know if it is possible to have eon files of Dragonland to translate it into italian and if not if there are any way to translate it, thankyou.

Geat work, Azoic!

I have a question. There are some new Purchase cards included. I guess they can be bought in usual places around the board. But... What are the prices? I find it a splendid idea to include prices of items from Purchase deck printed on the card itself. J. C. Hendee included a coin icon with the price printed on lower let corner of the card in ITB v2.

Azoic, if you're still out there, I have a suggestion on the Dragon's Tooth...

"Discard the Tooth at the start of any Battle and roll two dice. Choose the higher die's result as the number of skeleton warriors that spring from the earth. Each one adds +1 to your Battle result for the duration of the combat."

I haven't actually looked at the expansion, so is the Tooth a Trinket? If not, perhaps it should be so as a one-time Magic Object.

Well to give you a comparison from a card from the Highlands:

Dragon's Teeth

Trinket

You may discard the Teeth when you are about to engage in battle. Roll 1 die and add the result to your attack score.

Ell.

Yup, pretty much the same... just different places to acquire them, and Azoic's is thematically placed.

Hi,
there are no special prices for the new
Purchase Objects. Look at the cards, e.g.
Armoury (Place from Adventure Expansion):

Two-handed Sword: 2 Gold
Full-face Helmet: 2 Gold
Quiver of Arrows: 2 Gold
Kite Shield: 3 Gold
Greataxe: 3 Gold
Bow: 3 Gold
Plate Mail: 4 Gold
Other Object: % Gold

You also may gain Purchase Objects by
entering the Golden Tower (Place from
Dragonland Expansion) and rolling 4,5,
or 6.

... or if you defeat the Dragon Master,
you gain one Dragon Trohy Card and
additionally on a roll of 5, you gain
one available Purchase Object.

But there is a difference between Timescape
Purchase Card and Purchase Card.

It's also possible to make some houserules!

Try it!

Thanks Azoic.

I didn't mean to include The Adventure expansion in my Talisman yet. But, seems like including The Adventure first and then Dragonland is a proper way of upgrading the game. I will do that. If there's any other useful advice I would be grateful to hear it.
