FAQs

By Mighty Jim 83, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

So we have this entire sub-section of the forums dedicated to the rules of AGOT. It seems like there's at least a couple of new queries every day. Many of which get answered by Ktom, quoting the FAQs.

That's great for people who have time to read the forums, or have a seasoned player to advise them, but it does make me wonder - why don't they just include the FAQs (or at least a more detailed rules explanation) in the Core Set?

The obvious answer: so that players can get the most-updated-version of the FAQ ... and also become aware of updates to the FAQ and the resources they have in the FFG forums.

The less obvious answer: so that players are encouraged to visit the FFG website ... and buy more games.

Also, you don't include training tips for the Tour de France with a kid's 3-speed bicycle.

There are a lot of concepts in the FAQ that are not needed to play the game, particularly at a "learning" or "casual" level. You don't really need the FAQ, or "definitive" answers to the more complex card interactions, to play the game. Including an FAQ - which could be outdated before you ever open the box - could needlessly complicate the game by introducing new players to some of the more advanced nuances and game interactions before they're ready for them.
