Investigator Miniatures

Dammit, miniature freaks already "ruined" Talisman. Gimmie more adventurers for that instead of just 4 with minis. Thankfully, my AH collection is pretty much complete (only KH missing from the current expansions and no desire to buy that one), so wouldn't piss me off like the Talisman thing did. Guess I'm firmly in the "Hell NO" camp.

Ehhhh... Kingsport isn't great, but it's not bad, and the extra stuff is fun. Plus aquatic locations are (probably) going to be a blast when Innsmouth comes out. C'mon, don't you want to have an Epic Battle? :")

While I disagree slightly on your stance for KH (but understand a lot of your reasoning why), I am in the HELL NO camp with you. You can't really add investigator minis without monster minis to match the aesthetics. And you can't add monster minis because of the storage issues and the blind-draw issues. Plus, I select my investigators by cup-drawing them. Shuffling character sheets or tossing dice and counting just doesn't hold a candle to pulling a character from the cup.

Town full of stable locations, yawn. Over-powered (and in need of serious clarification) investigators, pass. 4 new GOOs would be nice, just not €40 nice. Epic Battle, well, I already refuse to gear up in any way for the final combat, so I guess that's a pass as well.

@ Tibs: Really, pick them out of a cup? I go with the shuffle sheets method when "randomly" drawing investigators.

A seperate box for Investigator Minis would be interesting. However replacing the Tokens with minis would be bad, as not every player wants the minis. For my part, I love the portraits.

I've got to say I'm in two minds on this. My initial thought was 'oh yes minis would be cool' but thinking about it I'm not so sure. It has the potential to taint the whole asthetic of the game. It really would depend I think on the quality of the miniatures they made. Stands for the gates could be cool though and as said previously would make gate counting much easier. I did see in an earlier forum that someone had made their own which looked superb.

I printed replacement sheets for Mary and Wilson. They don't feel the same and are different thicknesses, so they would be hard to shuffle. Plus, it's just simply easier to shuffle the tokens.

Oh also I leave the stands off the tokens and put them on only when we play with them. Using the original (squarish) stands, they can be flexed open without snapping or tearing the token. For these reasons I also use them on Spawn monsters to make the monster limit count easier.

I don't prefer to win by final battle, but I don't mind a win when worse comes to worse--and Epic Battle makes the experience harder, and more...epic!

Here's a thought - candied investigators.

That way, when they get devoured, they really are.

Melts in your maw, not in your psuedopod? :P

Here ya go: catalog.chaosium.com/index.php minis for lots of the investigators PLUS minis for most (if not all) of the monsters too.

OT: But remember to check out the *free* Call of Cthulhu RPG downloads on the free downloads section. Even if you don't play the CoC RPG, they're fun reading. In fact, the CoC RPG also has a free introductory download, which is at www.chaosium.com/article.php It actually contains all you need to play CoC RPG, especially if you prefer to play the (well-written) premade scenarios!

I can see minis for investigaotrs, but not monsters for all the reasons many people have posted here...random draws and whatnot.

The one big benifit that no one mentioned though about getting minis, is that my tokens (monsters and investigators) are getting all torn up. Im not sure how much longer they will last.

Mini's for investigators would be awsome :-)

My monsters of the origional AH box are getting pretty worn out too. I was thinking to make cards (with all the specs) with the strange eon program and have a monster deck. In that case it would be cool to have miniatures and put the card of the monsters somewhere beside the board or something...

Maybe it's just me, but I like being able to stack my monsters. Especially in those fantastic cases where there are five to seven monsters sitting on a gate and we're all avoiding them. With the latest Black Goat expansion this isn't that uncommon of a scenario, having stacks of monsters.

With that said, I still like the idea of minis for investigators.

I would love to say yes--in general, miniatures are just cool--but I just can't.

First, it would be too hard to keep them safe inside the rapidly-decreasing freespace in the boxes. And a separate box is a separate box: yet another box to lug around.

Second, there would be a severe lack-of-recognition factor. Up close they'd be nifty as hell, and you could probably remember where your Investigator is, but in a 4-5 player game...spread out over a giant table...at 11pm...after a couple beers? "Which one are you, Bill?" "I'm Joe, the one with the gun." "Which gun?" "The revolver. Mike has the Tommy Gun." "Black Cave?" "No, that's Mark. Flamethrower." It's just so much easier to match the picture in front of you...which I think is critical when introducing the unsuspecting to this BEAST of a game.

Third, I can't paint for crap. Coupled with "Second" above, this is becoming a big grey pain.

Fourth, I think now is not the time to be raising the cost of ANYTHING if it can be helped.

Lastly, on a personal level, the artwork on this game kicks supernatural levels of ass, and I LOVE looking at the Investigators' faces.

Why keep the miniatures in the Arkham box? I like to have minis nicely displayed on a shelf or in their own protective box (plano fishing boxes or boxes for screws, nuts, etc.). Since I play Mythos Miniatures , I have lots of Dunwich Investigators and Hasslefree minis. I haven't bought any RAFM minis yet. I'm waiting till I have completed eM's Dunwich Investigators line.

I would be interested in Arkham minis.

You could always get them to do the same with Arkham minis as they did with Tannhauser. Prepainted. With decent sculpts. After all, Arkham Horror is a game of colour. If they didn't do them in colour, I don't think it would be right.

Being a collecting fiend, I've got way too many monster counters. I was frothing at the mouth to buy AH when I learned about it, and then found out after I collected it that they reprinted it with errata and a new board. So I nerded that one into my collection, too. Now one sits in the closet for use as spare stuff in case things go missing.

Great idea! Heck. I'd take plastic ones. It sure beats the heck out of the cardboard ones that get beat up over time.

Oh yeah! They look awesome :D MUST.. BUY.. SOME..

Maybe if the minis came in an expansion with other cards and stuff. Not sure if I'd buy just a boxed set of plastic characters.

Here is a link to a great list of Pulp miniatures from various companies. Pulp Miniatures List

I really wish someone in England or here in Sweden would import Pulp Figures. They are awesome.

Hello everyone, I’m a noob to FF and had just recently started learning to play AH. I would like to say that I would also like to see minis for the investigators and monsters. Also, some people are worried about storage I noticed; FF could make a minis carry case similar to what GamesWorkshop has for theirs but make it cheaper then theirs.

Off to lose my insanity. :/

While I would love the 3D representation of the investigators, I think they would compound the whole space issue of how to conveniently and efficiently store the contents of 3 full size boxes and 3 small boxes.

Now, if FFG were to offer a nice carry box (expansion-capable, of course), I'd buy that... and the minis too!

I would definitely go for this.

3D player pieces are always a nice addition.

Pre-painted figures of the ancient ones and the investigators (I wouldn't want to see monsters; they would be too problematic for a host of reasons that others have all ready stated) would be a welcome addition to the game.

If they were sold as a separate pack that could be added to the existing game, I would buy them ... and so would everyone I know whom plays Arkham Horror.

Just one further request, though: as others have said, please could we have an official monster cup ... or even a monster bag?

Another vote for support of the investigator minis. Though I would prefer them to be like the ones in Fury of Dracula, soft plastic to cut on the costs.

I would certainly buy them.

I'm a sucker for miniatures, but the little tombstones that the characters are printed on have a certain charm too...morbid charm but charm nonetheless. As to the earlier mentioned topic of a more stand -out version of gate markers, I've put mine on small stands like the ones that are for the investigator pieces. Salvaged them from an old game but I'm sure you can get them from some online retailer. They work very well in letting the players know what locations have open gates.
