Curious about W:I players' tournament experience so far....

By Wytefang, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

As the title implies, I'd love to get a listing of all of you W:I players who have been able to play in a W:I tournament so far and how you fared. Please list the Tournaments you've entered in the format below, the deck you used for that tourney, and your placement. (Assuming you want to participate, of course!) It'd be a good way to really see who has been getting the most challenging experience with high-level play so far (granted not all tournaments are intensely demanding but most tend to be).

Thanks!

For me:

1. FFG Regionals - Orc/Skaven, finished 6th or 7th I believe, iirc. Didn't get much time to prepare for this one, sadly, and it showed. :(

2. GenCon Worlds - Dwarf (Non-Grudge based), finished 9th in a tie, record-wise, with 8th place though. Also completely built the #6 deck at GC so that eased my pain a bit at just missing the final 8 cut.

Okay, who's next?

Stahleck 2009
2xCoreset Random Deck 5th and 6th or so.
1xCoreset Draft 1th
1xConstructed [Orc] 1th
BärenCon
1x Tag-Team [Orc, Orc] 1th

I have hosted two tournaments in Salzburg (Austria) until now. We have a small core of good/very good players and a handful of beginners and intermediate players.

The first tournament was this spring with 7 players. 4 players from Salzburg and 3 from Munich (Germany). It was a single coreset only tournament for cheap joining for beginners.

I was placed 1st on that tournament with a dwarfen defense deck. One of the games against another dwarf was really close. I had about 9 cards left in my deck and had to draw 6 cards. Next round would have been my end. We both had a strong defense so there was no soon end in sight. This turn I've drawn my only Judgement of Verena in the deck to clean my own quest zone and his quest and kindom zones. Thus I had another two turns time and could finish him off. The enemy player was Claudio from Munich.

The second tournament i hosted was in late August 2010. We have been 8 players. 5 players from Salzburg and 3 from Vienna. We played the standard restrictions (50 - 100 cards, no more than 3 copies of one card).

I got the 1st place here too with my Empire Verena Jumping Jacks Osterknacht deck. I gave a short description of the final game in Drexlins forum: http://www.library-of-zandri.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=154

We had only one repeater-thrower deck in this tourney and even this was more a half discard/half repeater-thrower Dark Elf deck. There was no heavy grudge Dwarf deck played in this tournament.

I'm looking forward to the tournament of Stahleck (European Championship). Sometimes I even think my eyes might pop out of their eyeholes from all this hard forward looking. xD

greeting,

Deagal

Ps.: Does anyone know if the verb 'to draw' is an irregular verb? What's the past tense of it? Drew? It's hard to report a tournament without using this verb in the past tense. ^^

Both of the events that I have been able to play in were very fun and challenging. My only regret with Invasion currently is that there is not as large of a tournament scene as I would like.

FFG Super Regonial - 2nd played Dark Elf/Skaven Rush

Gencon World Championship - 1st Playing Dwarves w/heavy anti support and grudgethrower

You are correct about the past tense of draw. It is 'drew'.

Just one:

GenCon 2010 - Top 8 (losing a very close game to be top 4... happy.gif ).

Hope to play in more!

Tournament support in the pacfic northwest has been total garbage, sadly (no events at PAX, really?). Hats off to Clamatius for trying to get a scene going...

For my part, much as I love the game I'm not going to spend several hundred dollars on plane tickets to travel to play it.

We just finished a league in Colorado Springs with 16 players and are looking to start tournament play. Just trying to get best ideas on type to play. Right now weighing options of draft vs. constructed. Gonna need to read those optional rules Curator posted couple times to get a good understanding on draft with battle packs.

Thanks Vermillian. happy.gif
