RTL: Dungeon 35. Meladon's special ability

By Clemmensen, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

In Dungeon 35, "The Pull of the Depths", the Leader, "Meladon the Magnificent" has a special ability, saying: " Meladon can spend one movement point to move any figure in his line of sight one space, as often as he likes".

In this particular dungeon heroes can be moved into pits, taking 2 poison damage.

Can Meladon spend 3 movement points pushing a hero stading next to a pit into it (1 point), pull him out (1point) and then push the hero in again (spending 1 more point), thereby giving the hero 4 poison damage total? Or between two pits?

Should he pay the cost of two movement potins to pull the hero out of the pit?

Good question. Since things in a pit can only "see" one space out, but everyone else has LOS to them, this isnt in question. You could rule it either way, I'm not sure which way I would rule it. It might be best to limit the movement to horizontal only, so once the hero is in a pit, they cannot be affected by it again. Anything else seems a bit silly even if correct by the rules.

That's my take too. The dungeon is "Pull of Death" so it's like pushing and pulling things around a board, and if things fall into a pit, you can push and pull them all you want, they just hit the edge of the pit.

Yes he can, and it is just a cost of one movement point to pull a hero out of a pit. However note that once in a pit Meladon will have to be styanding adjacent to the pit in order to still have LOS to that hero. He effectively can't do the the in-out-in thing from a distance due to LOS issues.

Why? pg17 of JitD rulebook says "Other figures may trace line of sight to a figure in a pit normally." The limitation of LOS to an adjacent square only applies to the figure in the pit I thought?

The FAQ says: "Figures in a pit can see into the spaces adjacent to the pit.". I didn't think there was a limitation to those outside the pit for LOS, only those inside.

You are correct. Such a longstanding house rule of ours that I didn't even remember it was a house rule! My apologies (again! sonrojado.gif ).

No biggie. We hadn't hit that level in our current RtL campaign and I wanted to make sure I was going to play it right.
