Doubling Dunwich Mythos Cards

By Justin Alexander, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Like many others, I've seen the "Dunwich is a Ghost Town" phenomenon as soon as you add a small box expansion.

Given that I'm a lazy bastard who doesn't want to actually sort out of his decks every time, I've found it easier to simply leave the decks for all the expansions in each stack and then simply ignore any cards drawn from the "wrong" expansions. One solution I've thought of while maintaining my laziness is to simply buy a second set of Dunwich Horror mythos cards and add them to the deck. Would that fix the problem? Or just skew things further?

Alternatively, I've thought about separating Dunwich Horror mythos cards into a separate deck and then using some other method (die roll?) to determine which Mythos deck to draw from.

Thoughts?

I have used your alternative method for over a year now. But I only play 2 expansions at a time. For example: 1-2=Arkham 2-4=Dunwich 5-6=Curse of the Dark Pharoah. This simulates closely enough the changes of card coming up from each expansion. In fact, in this case it over emphases CotDP, which is OK by me because it has one of the best flavors.

I don't like your first suggestion firstly because of the $ but secondly because I don't like duplicate Mythos cards.

In addition, because I do have two sets of Arkham cards and all my cards are sleeved, I've added 9 cards* to the main Mythos. These cards bring in a particular expansion and when they do ALL cards are are drawn from that expansion until a rumor is drawn and they we revert back to the original deck. Sometimes we start with just the base game and see what pops up (9/75) (1 in 8 cards) or we play expansions which decreases the chances of another expansion taking over.

I've done this with Strange eons and print out the cards on very thin paper and slip them over some of my extra cards. Alternatively you could change some of the current cards to summon the new expansions like Darke's carnival comes to down for Dunwich.
