so who can help me build a Targaryen Deck

By jack merridew, in 4. AGoT Deck Construction

heres the setup, i am now playing against 3 other players using Greyjoy, Stark and Lannister and having the choice between Baratheon and Targaryen i chose Targaryen

I have the contents of 1 Core Set, all 6 of the Kings Landing chapter packs and assorted packs Return of the Others, Refugees of War, Illiriyos Gift, War of the Five Kings and Battle of the Ruby Ford

any ideas? i mean i understand the idea behind a burn deck but all the decks i saw used the contents of 2 or 3 core sets

Had a look through the CPs you have available, and that's really quite a challenge. :) [Mainly in balancing out the cost curve, and Targ is always one of the hardest houses to build without a large card pool] But here's two thoughts...

1) If you have access to the city plots, and other neutral shadows tech in King's Landing, you could go for a shadow -burn type of thing with Assassins and Aegon's Legacy giving you a bit more consistency... but if I'm right and you're splitting the King's Landing CPs, there'll be quite a bit of squabble for the City plots...

2) ...so the better idea would be to run with the Dothraki. Illyrio's Gift and the Refugees should give you a decent amount of decent dothraki (I'd even run 3x of Rakharo), and there's at least Jhogo and Khal from the Core Set. Also Viserys, Brown Ben, Illyrio's Man, Daenerys, Daario, Quaithe, Titan's Bastard. Fill in with any other characters, but try to not make the deck too costly.

Looks like you have a good amount of positive attachments that can give you decent chances of winning challenges (Aegon's Blade, Tears of Lys [Deadly and I should really help your Dothraki] and Rakharo's Arakh) so use those (3x Tears of Lys, Aegon's Blade, maybe 1x Arakh). Draw'll be a bit of a problem, but at least put in the Street Waifs (all 3x) and Vaes Dothrak also gives you a draw machine (maybe 2x of it?). Also both Xaro's Home and Deanerys Chambers. And put in all the resources you can (if you can also use some of the streets, good for you).

Events... 3x Deadly Khalasar, 1x Forever Burning (some challenge control), Seductive Promise, err... anything else that seems to fit the deck. :)

Plot ideas: Price of War (Rakharo and Drogo's Hordes... put in 2-3x Daemon Blackfyre if you have this plot), the house specific plot, The Prince that was Promised, any additional 2 claim if possible. Experiment on what works with this, and how much gold you need.

That's how I would go about it, but it's just an idea. :)

How about you ask your friends (the 3 other players) to trade you their Targaryen cards ... in exchange for the cards you have that match the house(s) they play?

Unless all 4 of you are sharing 1 core set.

yea theres only 1 core set to go around

right now im leaning heavily on shadow mechanics and i will be able to use all the city plot cards in my deck i just feel like im hurting on income, draw, and attachments (i have a good amount just not the ones i want)

thanks a lot for the thoughtful response though i was hoping someone would get back to me
