Troop packs, What are the rules for using them?

By Decaramas, in Tannhauser

Hi All,

In the revised rule book the alternate team set up is not mentioned, I was hoping that with the troop packs this rule would be published again ( wasted op if it's not there) . But looking at my two little rule books I can see no mention of this. So does that mean we can only use them for custom scenarios or for taking two of the same troops for the standard set up.

I ask as I am a little worried about game balance issues when this rule doesn't seem to be official anymore.

Please let me know if i have missed something

thanks

Dec

What do you mean by alternate team setup?

- it can be rule where they say that your team can consist only of 3 heroes and 2 troopers (original rules also had 3 troopers and 2 heroes). I think it wasn't just mentionet but i'm sure you can have 3 troopers and 2 heroes in revisited rules games.

- or that you can't have duplicates of your characters. I think in revisited rules under multiple copies section they say that you can't have two same heroes in the game. However the new troopers will also have slightly different painting so you can tell them apart.

anyway, i think that home rule for this is good idea

hope this helps

I would use following rules (as indicated by the material/text written in the trooper packs):

- you can use both minis of one trooper (why would they include each pack once more and the comando-pack 2times?)

- you can play with 2 Heroes and 3 Troopers or 3 Heroes and 2 Troopers - but I would rule, that both players must use the same number for Heroes and troopers - otherwise it could unbalance the game more ;-)

We houserule that you can use 3-2 or 2-3, Hero-Trooper like the old rules said. Players choice. I'm not sure why they didn't include this since it was implied in the advertising copy.

Back when there was an official league play for Tannhäuser in France, we allowed each player to chose the Hero / Troop combination he wanted. Which mean he could play with 2 Heroes and 3 Troops and on top of that he could play 3 times the same Troop if he wanted to.
