A couple of questions I hope to get help with

By Persiatic, in Talisman Rules Questions

Hi all, I tried searching for these answers on the forum but didn't find any good answers so here goes:

1. When facing the alternative ending "The Eagle King" how is this combat handled?

a. Do you fight until you either take all his lives or defeated and it counts 1 battle?

b. Do you fight until you have taken all his lives but it's like facing the pits that each life is seperate battle?

c. Do you fight 1 life then your turn ends and you fight again next turn?

* why I ask is because if it's as alternative a or b then there can never be 2ppl at the crown because either you face him and win or u loose and get teleported to crags.

2. Does the warhorse and monks special ability stack? meaning that he would be able to add his craft value*2 in battle? I would say no but then I read that prophetess special ability and orb stacks.

3. Can you use fate when rolling the movement of Death?

4. As I understand when the Cerebrus is guarding the portal of power you must land on the space to encounter the cerebrus and you cant with a higher die roll just try to pass the door?

Thanks

#1: Without checking the actual card, I'm gonna say B.

#2: Yes, should be in the FAQ.

#3: No.

#4: Yep, say Cerberus at PoP you start at Castle (1 away) and roll a 2, it's Black Knight or Woods for you.

Correct answer is a). Eagle King Card says that each time you defeat the Eagle King you immediately attack him again.

If you are defeated or, most important, you have a stand-off, you're moved to the Crags.

This means that two players will never be on the Crown at the same time while the Eagle King is in play and he will heal all his Lives if a Character fails to take all 4 lives in a row.

This is different from Ice Queen, who may force a Character to lose Turns if he's defeated. In the meantime, another player may reach the Crown and kill the Ice Queen while the other Character is frozen. Ice Queen heals her Lives only if Crown of Command space is devoid of Characters.

Warlock, I would maintain that while you do attack immediately again, each attack would be considered its own battle/psychic combat. Thus Psionic Blast would only help the character once, while a Spell like Brainwave/Energize, which last until the end of the turn, would help as long as there was no stand-off or loss.

Talking about turns and endings.... did we get the details about handling of Battle Royale that Elliot promised us? sonrojado.gif

Ok so if I got it right

Each life of the eagle king counts as it's own battle but you fight until you are defeated. So spells that affect until end of turn will be on all the time but things that affect battle only each life like if I had mercenary I have to pay him to fight with me for each life?

Thanks for the quick response

That would be my take on it. As for Mercenary, way too lazy to check (man, Talisman needs a full-card text database/wiki or something for quick, online searching), but some hazy recollection seems to suggest you can only pay him once per turn. Not sure if it's the lateness of the hour or a correct recollection though sonrojado.gif .

I agree with all this Spell ruling. It's exactly how Battle Royale should be handled IMO. We're still waiting the promised clarification from Elliott. I didn't suffer very much from it since we had games with different endings, no Battle Royale in the last 4 games, but I'm still very curious about official handling of many attacks in a row.
