Finally, a collectible card!

By johnny shoes, in CoC General Discussion

Arkham Nights boasts among prizes, "three custom domain cards for Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game. Featuring stunning art."

We got some special ones for GenCon 2010 as well. I have a few extra sets if anyone is interested.

I am interested!

I am interested to!

I am interested too, if you please.

same here! if you please

What is the art on the GenCon domain cards?

GenCon 2010 Domain Cards

There's a quick, crappy picture.

As it turns out, I had two extra sets. One was already spoken for, so that leaves me with one. How to decide?

Maybe we need some sort of contest?

I like it. Clever and diabolical.

Do you have any sort of ideas?

Deckbuilding contest?

Writing contest?

Those are about the only two things I've come up with so far. :)

Thats great art. Yeah, I would assume the Arkham Night domains will definitely be different from those.

Contest.... as in Thunderdome?

2 nerds enter, no one leaves?

Hmm... A deckbuilding contest is interesting, but I'm trying to figure out how it would be evaluated. I assume by playtesting? Get several judges to test out the decks somehow...

But of course there would have to be some restrictions on the deck build to make it more interesting. I don't know, like you can only have at most 10 cost 1 cards, 10 cost 2, 10 cost 3...

There was a contest on the Warhammer: Invasion forum that involved setting up an in-play board situation and saying "How can you win, using the cards in your hand and the board as it is, on the next turn?" Here's a link:

Now, as far as effort goes, this is way out in the stratosphere compared to what you were probably thinking, but I thought it was pretty cool... You DO want to be cool, don't you? :)

I am interested too in a GenCon set of Domains. A player in my local group has made a whole bunch of customized domain cards (see the post on BGG titled 'Fanmade domains').

My suggestions :

1° a LCG deckbuilding contest with a theme of your own. Just tell us up to which AP of the recent ones could be used.

I remember one of the first posts i read on the older CCG forum, which had contests for the fun. One of them was the following idea : build an original deck around the Professor Armitage card. And you can be the sole judge :-) Publish So you can choose a card, or a pair of cards, and ask the same thing.

How did those turn out for him by the way? I haven't made a set for myself yet and was curious if I had to tweak the image formatting in Artscow's Silverlight program a bit more.

I have some suggestions. Keep tis in mind, I am just throwing in objective ideas as I am not really interested in the cards. "Gen Con 2010" on the center card is a major turnoff for me...

1. Choose at Random: This way there will be no hard feelings becasue the recipient is picked by chance.

2. ebay: The greedy alternative

3. Have contestants write a short Lovecraftian fiction piece with the art as the basis. Make the rule that the document must be exactly 666 words. I will even help with the judging if you like.

1) I thought about random recipient, but always feel robbed when I don't win.

2) I hate money.

3) I like. :)

Ooo.... a contest! The writing sounds awfully fun.

Hey,

Not to steal anyone's thunder, but I have a couple of extra sets of these cards, too.

Would anyone be willing to trade some CCG cards for them?

I would be happy to give a set to anyone who comes to my neck of the woods (La Crosse, WI) to play a few games. :)

Hi, John jmonnet, I have a passel of spare black bordered rare and promo cards that I would be glad to trade for a set of Gencon Domains. If you are interested, contact me directly at [email protected] and I'll tell you what I have and we can make a deal.

A deck building contest would be cool, but I think there should be equal merrit given to theme and creativity as to effectiveness.

I have a feeling that Mr Tokhuah would own in that aspect since, I have yet to play against one of his decks where he has not explained, in detail, the back-story behind why this character on this card is hanging out with all the other characters on all the other cards in the deck ;P

It makes for slightly slower, but infinitely more entertaining games
