Community voted GJ Deck (Why not?)

By bloodycelt, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

I figure this would be an interesting excersise.

So this type of deck will only have 20 unique cards in it.

60 card deck.

* Note: the Streets are an exception, if 1 of each is put in... they can then have 22 unique cards.

OK so vote: 10 characters, 5 resources, and 5 non resource non character cards.

For me:

Charachters: Wex Pyke, Tarle, Alannys Greyjoy, Victarion Greyjoy, Wendamyr, Vale Refugee,Herald, Carrion Bird, Fishwhiskers, Harbor Thug

Resources: Streets, Gatehouse, Sea, Red Keep, Chambers

Other: To Be A Kraken, Risen from the Sea, LIV, Support of Harlaw, Scouting Vessel

If you notice... this is very hard since we all like to put 1x or 2x utility cards in a deck... but this does not allow for that.

Well, with plenty of 3x of unique characters I think saves from kills are even more important to avoid dead cards in hand, so in goes Iron Mines with Scouting Vessel coming out. Losing those Warship traits means Fishwhiskers is very risky, so I'd take him out and put in Aeron Damphair, who's ability pretty much keeps him from ending up in your dead pile and leaving you potentially with dead cards in your hand later. To get bang out Damphair's ability, I'd probably put in Godswood Attendant in place of Alannys (I don't like the idea of having 3x of a card that could be turned off). Depending on what plots were being used, I'd possibly take Red Keep out and put Bay of Ice.

Well, the problem I've always had with Greyjoy is that unless you get the right hand or so at the beginning of the game, then you've lost. So by the time you start getting dead cards in hand you've already lost the game.

Also, bay of ice is not a resource hence... red keep could come out for crossroads or fiefdoms, but not much else.

I pass the resources cause there is no choice :-)

char: wex, tarle, wendamyr, balon, euron

other: longship iron victory, iron mines, scouting vessel, rise of the kraken, support of the harlaw

Ps i love greyjoy :-)

gualdo you are missing 5 chars

no i done it more then once taken games back with my greyjoy deck with a good Valar Morghulis and coming back and winning turn 6 or 7

i missed, you are right :-)

i repeat:

wex, tarle, wendamyr, balon, euron, wintertime marauders, asha, distinguished boatswain (i hope this is well written :-)), refugee, theon (change of season).

ah... but if you are using wintertime marauders... one must make it winter which means one of the 5 others has to be white raven.

Fun idea, here goes:

Characters: Refugee, Scurvy Cutthroat, Distinguished Boatswain, Wex, Alannys, Dagmer, Tarle, Victarion, Balon and... Orell The Eagle as a bonus (but no Wildling Agenda)

Other: LIV (duh), Naval Escort, Iron Mines, Veteran Marauder (close between this and Harlaw), Scurvy (anti-Viper, anti-Rush etc. - clean up with Valar)

Should've managed to fit an event in there... maybe I'll go low on resources (cheap curve, cost mainly in characters so 3x Red Keep) and put in Assault of the Kraken from Gualdo's list. :)

A mass of undercosted 0 and 1 drops backed up with mass pump from naval escort/LIV and intimidate to get unopposed challenges. Big weakness right now is the complete lack of renown and intrigue icons.
