Painted minis

By guest99239, in Tide of Iron

Anyone painted their TOI miniatures? I just started painting some of the Normandy minis, and some ofthe base stuff. First up is the british forces, also with a sherman and M10. I found some old decals for the sherman.

British troops

Next is the King Tiger, Jagdpanther and mark 4 panzer with some elite trops behind.

German forces

That looks awesome. I definetly love how the painted mini's add to the game.

I painted the tanks and vehicles of TOI, but wasn't about to get started on the troops. I'm happy with my results.

Also cool with the tanks. I cheated and bout 1:144 scale vehicles and armor.

World tank museum ones? The scale of the tanks are a bit big in comparison to the TOI ones. I have also used some Perrin 12mm scale tanks to replace the Tiger and Panther TOI models - the tiger model is just plain bad, while the panther is too small.

Yeah, mostly WTM ones. Some Dragon ones for the Pz IVs. 21st Century for the M3A1, SdKfz 251, and the American trucks. I still haven't found a 1:144 Opel Blitz except in lead which I won't get since I have small ones.

Awesome paint jobs on the tanks and troops. I would love to do that with my mini's but don't have enough time and after playing a bunch of other mini games I am tired of painting. But they did look real good. If anyone knows where I can get the units but pre-painted let me know.

I just got the bulk of my tanks in the mail today. I now see what you mean about them being a little big. The King Tiger is huge relative to its ToI counterpart.

Funny that the WTM Shermans are just about the same size as the ToI ones but none of the other tanks are similar in scale to one another. I notice that the relative scale of the ToI pieces to one another seems mostly right though after comparing them with my WTM minis I see they cheated and squeezed many of them to make them more narrow (probably to fit the hexes) than they should be which is probably why some have commented that they look bad.

At the end of the day I'm pretty happy with my new minis, we'll see how they play later this week.

Those are some great looking mini's all around. I haven't even bothered to look TOI's way just yet. Have too many other project's as it is between painting Twilight then painting WoW: Burning Cruesade to getting around to painting the War of the Ring Expansion. Yeah...TOI is going to have to wait. But I like what others have done with it. Awesome job(s) and hope you guys post more!

I probably should have looked a little more before blowing my FF winnings on WTM mini's but I did find a company that makes 10mm scale mini's if you were looking for something metal to paint. I'm not the painter type so I probably still would have gone with the WTM mini's but for those of you who are more skillful/creative check out Pendraken Miniatures
