It seems like the Arkham Nights new AO has got a brother: http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=1583 ...
A couple of official new GOOs...
yes. Seems the evil ones are multiplying again. Quite appropriate I must say. Definitely looking forward to attending, and esp. to trying my luck against an all expansions 'in play' game. I've done so once before and it was truly madness.
So who/what do you think they will be?
Cyaegha, anyone? How about BRAND NEW versions of Cthulhu and Nyarlathotep? With that lovely art below on the Big Green?
Man, I really want to be excited about this, but it's just impossible for me to get out there at that time. So this is actually just pissing me off.

Wonder how much I'm gonna have to pony up on frakkin' eBay for everything...
I wonder if they will come with Plot Cards for epic battle.
For DT:
Wait...are you saying that the only AOs with Plot cards are the ones that come with Kingsport? Or did they also make Plot cards for base game AOs and included Plot Cards with Innsmouth? Edit: I answered myself, looked it up in the Wiki. So I guess these two new ones will come with Plot cards too. No reason not to give them Plot cards IMO..
On topic: personally I love that huge worm/tongue/thing thrashing about in the forest
What is it? Plus I like its art better than the underwater Cthulhu
Kingsport came with plot cards for AOs from Kingsport, Dunwich, and the base game, and when Innsmouth came out, it included plot cards for it's AOs as well.
Edit: oh, well, you beat me to it.
Yes, if these are updates to already-released AOs then we will have their plot cards. If not, then that's going to suck a bit.
And, according to the old ad, there was supposed to be a new AO and a new herald. Maybe that's what "Great Old Ones" means in this case. I was starting to think that it would be a herald for AH and an Ancient One card for the LCG, but this clearly says otherwise.

Fear not, Ive a hunch the leng glass says these will be made available.
FFG posted the 'bonus' Dunwitch Horror and Dark Pharaoh heralds as PDFs on the website. I have a feeling they'll do the same which any new ones after the Arkham Nights event. Otherwise it would be unfair to those who could not attend, and those who do attend get the bonus of having the 'professional version' if you know what I mean. As far as plot cards go, that I don't know, but I'm sure people will post custom plot cards as soon as they have the new cards.. I probably will for one
.
I agree that the phrase "Be among the first" implies that these will be made available at some point after the event... hopefully with Plot Cards, but yeah, we can always create some, too.
I wrote to FFG about wheteher this bag would be made available after the event. Today I received this reply:
-
Hello David,
Thank you for your interest in the Arkham Nights event and we're sorry you can't make it out to attend. The gift bag being given out will be limited to attendees only, as a way of making the event special for those who can make it out. If there are any gift bags left over after the event (and we can't guarantee that there will be), they will be available for purchase at future Event Center events.
Thank you,
Jaffer Batica

I have replied appealing for the AOs to be made available, but it seems people will have to make their own (or cough up huge amounts on ebay)
Now Im off to mope around the Graveyard.
Yeah, promos suck. My advice is not to get too attached to them. In this case I'm sure somebody will post scans online soon enough, so those who really want them will be able to get them in some form, but in general promo items are designed to be "rare" and "hard to get" on purpose. The need to go to some convention or jump through other hoops to get them is the entire purpose. They aren't making these promo items to expand or improve the game, they're making them to convince people who otherwise wouldn't be willing to shell out the travel expenses/cover fee that they should go to this event.
If you absolutely can't make it, or if the promo alone isn't enough to justify the cost, then my advice is "forget about the promo." More often than not promo items are ridiculously overpowered anyway, in an effort to make people go "WOW! =O" Not having them in your game may be better in the long run anyway. If you feel like your game is incomplete without absolutely every official component ever produced, I can certainly understand your attitude (I'm a recovering completist myself) but your wallet and your mind will rest easier if you don't torment yourself too much about missing promos, and your gaming group probably won't notice the difference even if you do get the promo item.
I'm hoping that these new AO's are simply limted previews of ones that will appear in the next small box expansion.

You mean the small box after the next big box (since small-big-small-big, etc.) has been the product order so far
?
Just a small update from the FFG people. I wrote back to Jaffer with an insane tirade of curses from the Al-Azif, and this came back:
"Thank you for your input. We understand your concerns and your suggestions have been passed along to the appropriate decision makers, but at this time I personally cannot make any promises as to the future disposition of these Ancient Ones. Do keep an eye on our website as if and when a decision is on these Ancient Ones, we will make the announcement there. We apologize for any inconvenience."
Might I suggest a campaign of terror, timed to the rising of Aldebaran, aimed at the highest echelons of power, insisting that they relent and let these Ancient Ones rise fully from their slumber? Or else, build event centres in every town, across the world, in time for the event?

Well...at least now you see why I'm pissed. But considering the two "form letters" you have already received, I don't think FFG would notice a few heated zealots amidst the general indifference. You underestimate the power of collective human apathy: "Ooooo, I'd love to protest, really I would, but I don't want to miss Nitwit Idol tonight."
I'm going to try to take Steve-O's "12-step" advice, and choke down my NEED to have everything.
But what happens when you see them, and your mind cracks wide open, allowing the Many Angled Ones to pour through?
and - oh, believe me - i would never underestimate the opiate content of the masses - specially not these days...my call to act was sardonic.
pissed - yeah im with you. Along with most people reading this.
Can I suggest that anybody who is lucky enough to attend scans them and puts them up on Boardgamegeek for those of us based in Europe who don't stand a hope in Abyss of attending.

They'll probably go up soon after the event, but at least for me, printed out GOOs aren't appealing at all, because I play random GOOs. Texture on printed stuff won't match the cardstock of the in-game GOOs, thus when shuffling the sheets, you'll know which are the printed ones.
Yes, I do use the online Heralds, but for them, randomizing by shuffling doesn't work period, since they are printed double-sided to begin with, so different stock doesn't really come into play.

Gloves? Made of human skin?
I know the worlds best cardboard medium artist, he is going to try and come up with a copy that cant be easily distinguished, I have faith he can come up with the magic formula.

I just made a list of all the AO's and use percentile dice (two D10s) to determine the AO I'm playing. With 24 total, each AO has 4 numbers out of the hundred, and if I roll 97-00, then I just roll again. So any new ones that are gotten are just added to the list, and numbers reassigned to make them all even, and that way it doesn't matter whether they're official, or printed.
But I like shuffling
.
Do what I do, have a 3 year old do the random selection, he doesn't know the difference.

But that's a 4-year wait, minimum
