Players Looking for New/Existing Online Game (Possibly Wiliing to Start One)

By Cwannan, in Rogue Trader Gamemasters

We are two players who are looking for a new or existing online game to join.

We have a great deal of experience playing text-based games online using OpenRPG, including a previous Dark Heresy campaign. We're open to Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader or Deathwatch once its released.

I'm also willing to start a new game if enough players are interested.

Thanks!

I currently run a game so have no interest in running 2 games but i would really like to try playing in one, i have billions of character concepts and could easily play any role,

a conniving smooth talking navigator scion, a voidmaster helmsman who has major cybernetic changes to his body and plugs into the ship and manuvers it with his mind, a kroot mecenary out to find and hunt and consume every manner of creature, a ex administratum sceneshal looking to take his knolege of administration and efficency to make untold wealth and live in luxury (i have spent enough of my time in scratchy ink stained robes, this nice crushed velvet really hits the spot!). a rabidly faithful astropath out to destroy all traces of the corruption of chaos so as to expand the glories of the god emperor

I'd be up to it. Never done a txt based one so thats the only problem.

Fizzywig - Nice concepts. We seem to be in a similar situation as I would also love to simply play for a change. I have so many ideas that I would love to bring to life as player characters. If a potential GM doesn't surface sometime soon then I will give more thought to my own story ideas.

Ravager - Text based games played online have pros and cons that set them apart from face-to- face games or voice/video games. Most notably is pace. My experience both running and playing text games is that they move more slowly than face-to-face games do, especially during combat. This can largely be mitigated by a bit of preparedness on the part of the players and GM such as having descriptions of actions typed up before your turn during combat comes up. I like being able to scroll up the chat window to reference things that were said earlier in the game rather than having to ask players or the GM to repeat themselves and I always save a chat log to reference later. At least two of my long-time players prefer text games as they say there is greater immersion since you can imagine how characters speak and what voices sound (particularly in the case of players or the GM portraying characters of the opposite gender.) You also get to play in the comfort of your home but the best part for me has been being able to keep gaming with friends who are now separated due to moves. Overall I've found online play to be just as rewarding as normal play and some of my most memorable games have been online.

Well that explains that bit. I would like to try if you still want players.

The more i think about it the more i come down on the side of either the sceneshal or the kroot, i have a pretty full idea of what i would do with those two. i could chose either depending on what you think would make game more interesting.

Sceneshal, ex-munitorium officer, kicked out during a change in the higher levels of beauracracy as he backed the wrong political candidate for lord-subsector and hence kicked from his hereditary position, now uses his knowledge of the system to make as much money and live in as much decadance as possible still keeps all his old robes and will pull out the ink stained look to hide in the background when he needs to but is all about gambling carousing and having a good time... and having a secret on everybody so that favors are always owed his way.... (Child of dynasty (5th son of the 3rd daughter of the rouge traders house possibly, being an extended relation to the rogue trader could be fun, but very extended) Savant- New Horizons Product of Upbringing (decadant) Knowledge (Knowledge is Life, Life is Knowledge)(darn, im 50 exp points over, well swap new horizons for either duty bound or chosen by destiny,.. havent quite decided, that one might be chosen for possible overlap or to mesh better with the rest of the crew.) (almost certianly go to aquisitionist if we go that far)

Kroot: Stalker friendly, all about having a good time, plan to be shaper, cares heavily about the kroot and takes slights to his honor very seriously, but buys the firs round for everyone whenever he walks into a bar, and when off duty, quite happy to have a good time with these ... Gwe'Vasa that he is travelling with, does not quite understands the humans reprehension at his habit of eating the kill, wilingly and friendly offers bites to other crewmembers. in battle, all about attacking from the shadows.

also i have not read lure to the expanse and have specifically watched out to not read it if you dont want to have to plan out a whole game and just want to play. or if you can find someone who would want to run it but i dont know about the other (possible) players,

I did not know about OpenRPG until this post! SO I am downloading it and will see how to run a game through it. I have never done an online game before, so anyone who wants to get in the game must bare in mind that I am learning the engine.

So anyone interested in Rogue Trader Online, let me know at [email protected] and I will try and shoot for a start date sometime next week.
