im planning to run a test session with one group whose members have little knowledge about the setting so i need something that will enable them to fully appreciate that dark and gritty style. so, do you have any suggestions about a premade adventure? i was thinking about shattered hope, but perhaps you know of something better?
suggestions for entry level one-session adventure

Edge of Darkness hands down (for the download check out the Support page of Dark Heresy). Better keep your hands away from Shattered Hopes (except if you invest some time to modify it heavily) as it is rather dull.
Edge of Darkness is not really a one-session adventure though, unless the group is very efficient (or stupid) it can easily stretch for two or three sessions.
Still, unless you really need it to be just one session I would go with that suggestion. Edge of Darkness is really good and there are few better ways of illustrating the setting than the lower parts of a hive, with all the corruption and hopelessness you find there. Otherwise Shattered Hopes is good for learning the rules, but not so much the setting as you spend most of it in a cave...

that was basically my main concern. guess ill be burning at the stake for not following 'blessed is the mind too small for doubt' maxim, though :/
otherwise, many thanks to you both for the advice.
