Dark Heresy Collector's Edition 2

By Lightbringer, in Dark Heresy

Here's a crazy little idea: As we're all so excited about the forthcoming Deathwatch Collector's Edition (go on, admit it; you are!) would anyone be interested in a new Dark Heresy collector's Edition? I know I would!

The original CE is now like gold dust (only 200 were printed, compared to 2000 Deathwatch Collector's Editions and 1000 Rogue Trader CEs) so far fewer people have any of these. I missed the opportunity myself to get one the day they were put on sale, as I was away from a computer. I feel very jealous of the lucky few who can line up all three 40k RPG systems on their shelves, and would love to have the opportunity to do the same...

I'd be willing to pay DW CE prices for either a replica of the original Dark Heresy Collector's edition, or some new, spangly version that has the same sort of stuff we see in the RT or DW CE. FFG could put in the Errata, add a huge new Calixis Sector map as a handout...I'd certainly buy it.

Would anyone else?

They're having enough trouble getting Deathwatch to ship before October, so let's not suggest adding anything else to the schedule.

BYE

Depending on what it had inside, I might...

If it had a massive poster map of the Calixis Sector I probably would...

I would i think most people would pay but it would need alot of work from FFG and they are up to their eyeballs at the moment i would imagine.

But yes this gets my vote in terms of something to be worked on but only if it can be errata free and up to date.

I would definately go for this, but Id want it to come with a Letter of Exterminatus or a Inquisitorial Mandate, have it be a revised edition with different art, updated rules, new rules and gear some new antagonists and a different adventure.

I would take just a second printing of the same book with the same Inquisitorial paper.

And I would still dish out $130-$150 for it without a thought for my wallets' pain.

WOW! I had the same idea of a new collectors idea last week! I was going to post this idea, but I was so serious about this, that I really wanted to post it at the right time, like after all the insanity over Deathwatch, and Into the Storm had subsided at FFG offices. But now that pandoras box has been opened, I will keep bumping this message even months from now. But yeah, it makes SO much sense for FFG to do something like this. Especially after no more core books are forthcoming, and it's a perfect way to integrate the errata into the core book. And, HEY,....they can make a mint off this product as well. They could give the current owners of the previous edition the option of keeping thier current inquisitor as it may well be still in their database.(not sure). Whats also cool is that FFG can produce a new Dark Heresy Collector's Edition that can conform more visually to what RT and DW collector's edition look like now.

Releasing a core rulebook that is only a limited run that has different rules in it (not just errata, but new rules) is dumb though. What if people don't want to pay £100+ for a core book? If they were doing that, they'd have to release all that stuff in a normal version too, for those of us that don't want/can't afford the CE version.

A new CE in line with the two others (i.e. box, some form of personalisation via scroll and parchment paper) would be bought by me with no hesitation. Doesn't have to be up to the levels of the detail poured into the DW CE.

Not going to happen though. :(

No itsnot dumb, but thank you for playing. What woudl be dumb would be for them to not release it in a normal form as well (all future reprints would be of the new book afterall) or to not sell a PDF of it.

And new rules could just as easily be newer rules from other later releases (such as the Unnatural rules in IHB, and so forth).
