Recharge tokens on Actions with no Recharge

By Uncle_Joe, in WFRP Rules Questions

Just checking to see if there is actual rule concerning this and barring that, how other people are playing it.

But are Action cards with 0 Recharge 'valid' targets for the 2 delay points incurred by rolling an Hour Glass on an action? Obviously the GM can put them anywhere, but is this something that appears to be intended? I can see it both ways, but in it could be pretty brutal if place on a character's only attack or on their Channeling for example.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks!

I don't see why not.

Yes the are valid targets.

"Delay: If at least one hourglass symbol appears in the results pool, the action causes a delay. During encounter mode, after the action is resolved, the GM has the option to either place two recharge counters on one of the rolling character’s action cards, or move the topmost token for the delayed character on the initiative track down one space in initiative order. During story mode, the GM may determine the action takes longer to resolve than expected."

OK, thanks. That's kind of what I figured since there was no restriction listed in the rule.

But on that note, where do other GM's tend to place them? On 'popular' actions? On actions that have been more recently used?

On the ones the player likes the best!

Depends on the situation. If I'm launching an attack at them I may delay their defense cards. If they have a heavy attack card coming up I'll delay that or if they all have excellent initiatives I'll bump one down, especially if it could create a situation that would allow for a monster to attack the same character back to back between init rounds. Then again if the characters are finding a fight tough for some reason I'm just as likely to delay them in ways that are less impactful.

OK, thanks for the input guys, that's pretty much how I've been doing it. Having played Descent quite a bit where the GM is literally TRYING to kill the players as often as possible, I just wanted to make sure that it didnt seem too harsh to other people if the characters 'best' actions are being hit with additional Recharge.

On the other hand...I guess that might also make them think a bit more before always moving to the extreme end of the Conservative track.... ;)

At Gen Con, one of the guys from FF advised throwing the tokens on curry favor, or on channel power. I've found this fun.

Yeah, I dont think the caster character will appreciate that very much. ;) Of course it might encourage them to try and get more power when they can... gran_risa.gif
