Do base game set Troopers now get a Command Pack?

By DHFrew3, in Tannhauser

The new reinforcement packs aren't just duplicates of the existing Troopers.

The Troopers in the base game only have Combat Packs and Stamina Packs.

The Troopers in the reinforcement packs have these, but also a Command Pack, just like the Heroes do.

These new Command Packs include new tokens, like incendiary grenades and a H-t-H weapon that doesn't take up an equipment slot.

Does this mean that the Troopers in the base game now have access to these Command Packs as well? If so, then we need a few more tokens.

According to the rule book, characters and troops may only be equipped with weapons/abilities if their squad affiliation or face appear on the token. So Old troops may be equipped with new weapons if they meet the requirement, which they do.

If an issue comes up, like you only have 1 token but 2 characters, make it know to your opponent or you a stand in token, like a piece of paper or a objective token.

Maybe FFG can put out an "upgrade pack" with the missing tokens for those who want to have tokens for the character in the base pack. Or even better, they could include them in the Daedalus release !

are there any bonus tokens in the trooper packs, too? Or only the three packs for the troopers themselves?

So I bought the packs today and the tokens included are:

Reich: For each troop: 1x Stamina Pack, 1x Combat Pack, 2x Commando Pack

2 Rubble Tokens (useless ^^)

Union: For each Troop: 1x Stamina Pack, 1x combat Pack, 2x Commando Pack

2 Fire Tokens (for a Special Grenade included in the Commando Pack)

So you may equip all of your troops with commando packs.

A review of sorts...

I just picked up both packs today.

I've got to say I'm pretty happy with FFG, the new troop packs are great, and my list of complaints is short.

First, the good, the visual quality is what you expect, and the new fluff text and rules are well written. I'd say the Stoss got the best new tokens and abilities. and the inclusion of former bonus token as part of the new command packs was a good move on FFG's part. The minis are original T.O.Y. production as noted on their bases.

Next, the bad, the rubble tokens, I can't even tell you how many rubble tokens I have. I would have actually liked to see duplicates of the Secton Kaos and Obscura Korps Band tokens. ( If you check the multiple copy rules in the revised edition, there is no rule against duplicate bonus tokens. Also I don't like the new "Reich" header on the new character cards, but others might.

Last, the ugly, the Stoss's demon tainted arm is a little loose; if it falls off I'll glue back on. (but I'm good with glue and paint) Others may be angry with such things.

The final word, FFG has done a great job and I'm looking forward to trying the four trooper scenarios in the new books.

Thanks for the review. I have 2 sets of pre-orders with my game shop. Should be there Sat. or Monday.

This will give me 6 of each union and reich troop type. And Plan on doing a campaign with them.

Just some trivia...

Translates to Fighting-knife Mad, but you should note it's really mad as in angry not crazy.

I've noticed a lot of translated words from German are not too "clean" Seems that in German they don't expand on vocab.

Like a ambulance in German translates to Sick Wagon.

Wish English could be that simple, instead we have Ph that can sound like F

Always been a terrible speller. partido_risa.gif

And not a very good command of the English language.

Kampfmesser Böse could also be translated into Fighting Knife Bad or Fighting Knife Evil. but Fighting Knife Mad Could also fit.
