Deathwatch Collector's Edition is now on sale!

By FFG Ross Watson, in Deathwatch

Hail the Emperor, Blessed be His name! I got my order in. cool.gif

Damnit. I emailed FFG's store, and asked to have my real life name on it but wasn't aware of the chapter option.

Ok so I saw no where to specifically put the info.

So I put it in the comments box, was that the right thing to do?

Apparently people are nervous about just getting a copy and flying through all order form stuff.

I'll be honest. I never even saw the instructions to place the personalization stuff in the comments box. I kept expecting an extra form somewhere along the line, and next thing I knew, I was done.

I imagine the skimmers of the world are re-learning the age old lesson of "Read the instructions!" :)

I filled the comments box in per the instructions, but I emailed anyway as the character limit was so small I couldn't type enough to be sure they understood what I was trying to say. (Mainly, don't call me Brother.happy.gif)

Was there a character limit to the name? I didn't see it mentioned on the instructions serio.gif

Anyway, Brother Ioannes Lucas of the Black Templars just ordered his copy gran_risa.gif ... although the shipping cost to Europe is a real bloodbath sad.gif

I missed the boat too when it came to following instructions but I sent my request to update my order and Brother Tiberius of the Raven Guard is born.

And checked status and is states awaiting shipping. Can't wait till is says shipped. gran_risa.gif

Also, has anyone seen a ship date set for the CE?

I ordered my earlier today via my iPhone while at work. Unfortunately due (I think) to the iPhone's inability to use flash it would not let me fill out the comments section (I tried). Fortunately I was able to email and have my order amended. Brother Gallius of the Imperial Fists is on order. gran_risa.gif

Brother Zeitmann of the Black Templars, has sworn the Apocryphon oath.

I was gutted when I popped on and found I'd missed the chance to get one of these stunning books. But then, in a moment of inspiration.. call it a warp sense, I logged in to my FFG store login and it changed from "out of stock" to "in stock". Sanguinius truly blessed me with insight tonight! gran_risa.gifangel.gif

So if it reads out of stock Brothers login before you lose hope!

So is it sold out proper now?

No I just checked and still get the option to buy. Of course I have already bought the single copy that I want.

Me and a friend just bought our 2. so thats 2 comming to Norway.

Just got the confirmation email from head office, shipping will be 8-10 weeks after the corebook is released to the wider world.

I've emailed him back asking about whether CE owners will be given a copy of the book in PDF form given the time difference between release and the unwillingness to damage such an expensive book by reading it.

I suggest others do the same.

Got the same email. I've already got a regular edition on pre-order with Amazon. Not planning to actually use the CE for gaming. Now knowing how notoriosly late FFG books ship from Amazon, the only question is which version will arrive first?

I received the email, too. Guess it's going to be a long wait for me.

I have a regular edition already, scored by a friend for me at GenCon. I will grab 2 more copies of the regular core when it hits shelves. I can wait on this gem.

No refund request coming from me, I waited too long for this checking the site every day.

Given that other CEs haven't included a PDF, I'd go with a likely "no". Also, FFG did say that the CE wouldn't be coming out until after the normal version had been released, so it should have come as no surprise that it would be a while before it was sent out.

I don't get buying a book, regardless of how expensive it is, and then never reading it though. What's the point of having the book then? You might as well just have the case of it on the shelf in that case preocupado.gif

Ask Picasso, Van Gogh and the others - some people are paying millions just to have a piece of canvas they can hang on their wall, without even the possibility of reading it.

After getting this CE I will have all three 40K CEs. I have a nice magazine shelf they are displayed on side-by-side, but I also read them and use them during game nights. Granted, I am the only one who touches them, but it is nice as the GM to have the distinctive reference.

It makes me feel like judge, jury and executioner - as any Inquisitor worth his weight in salt should feel.

While I appreciate the analogy, it's incorrect. The difference between a painting and the book is function. I could imagine spending that amount of money for one of Van Gogh's works, simply because it's on the wall and doing what it's supposed to do: looking wonderful. Purchasing a CE of Deathwatch and then not using it is like purchasing a Van Gogh painting and then storing it out of sight.

That said, I buy CEs and rarely take them out of the box. sonrojado.gif

@Ishmael

That assumes an object can have only one purpose (I'm feeling a little Jubal-y).

While I don't really mind the 8-10 week, it would be a really neat plus to me if they allowed us to place an order for the book now and get it shipping in the next few days (for the cost of buying the book etc.). Kind of early access for those of us unfortunate enough to not be a play tester/make it to gencon. Also, I definitely plan on at least putting my CE to some use, using the book etc. And depending on the quality of the case, I may attempt to integrate it into a 40k costume in the future.

Wait KommisarK is that you Kai? As in Jackie and Kai?

^-^ This is Alexis, the Adeptus Mechanicus you met at SDCC this year if so. I did not dig my face makeup and so am ditching it next year. Also might upgrade that costume to a TechMarine. But I am also doing my Rogue Trader next year hopefully.

Hey Alexis, how's your alternate Sisters of battle order coming along, anymore material ready for the internet?
