Is there any way that we can get a date on when the cards (or should I say if) that are out of print are going to be back ?

I'm afraid that there is not. This issue has been discussed pretty often on this list. Nobody, probably including FFG, knows when they will reappear.

I have been a manufacturing engineer all my professional life. In my opinon (warning, opinion only, I have no actual data) what is probably going on is that FFG have active orders in to their Chinese manufacturer of Asylum packs for two dozen different packs of cards, CoCLCG, Game of Thrones, and their other card games, both new packs and reprints. The manufacturer only alots FFG some fraction of its total manufacturing capability, and every week or two asks FFG which packs they want as first priority. Naturally, FFG always says they want the new, unreleased packs more than the reprint packs. This scenario could continue forever.

I believe this explains why FFG used to put expected dates on the CoC reprint packs on their 'upcoming' page, but has removed those in the last few months.

It is probably all just a matter of priorities.

Yeah, only a lame attempt at levity after a discouraging post.

For those of us just starting out, would it be best to just stick with the core set, Secrets of Arkham, and/or The Yuggoth Contract cycle, and just wait until the older cards start to reappear?

@ MarthWMaster: Do you have certain factions/decks you are interested in building? If the answer is yes then you could check out the spoilers at Board Game Geek and focus on obtaining older APs around supporting those decks.
