A question about spells and sanity.

By guest461286, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Good evening! The situation is:I have only 1 sanity point remaining and I want to cast a spell with a sanity cost 1.What will happen?

Also can anyone please make to me clear the lost in time and space condition and the condition of being delayed?

Thanks again for the support.!

A lot of variables there that you didn't cover. With 1 sanity left you can cast a spell with 1 sanity cost and and if you are succesfull at the spell roll you will be succesfull but you will also go insane so what actually takes place will depend on the timing of the spell which spell it is and what the situation is.

As to your other questions what about those conditions specifically ar you having trouble with?

If I understand it well when I am lost in time and space I leave my investigator on the appropriate space lying on the back for being delayed. In the following turn I do nothing. In the second turn after being lost I move my investigator in the upkeep phase on the space of my choice,I stand him upwards in the movement phase(and he didn't move) stopping being delayed and I have an Arkham encounter.Am I right?

Hello.

When you are LiTaS (Lost in Time and Space) consider this timeline:

Round 1: You are drawn into LiTaS by whatever reason; your character is placed on the LiTaS field on the game board (lower right corner, just next to "The Other Dimension"); your character is delayed.

Round 2: During Phase II: Movement "you get up" but remain in LiTaS.

Round 3: You get back to any place in Arkham you like at the beginning of Phase I.

About the first question: Most likely your character casts the spell, therefore looses the last sanity point which makes him insane; your character is immediately moved to the "Arkham Sanatory" without any further action, if this happens in Arkham; if your character is in an "Outer World" and he/her gets insane, the character gets LiTaS (see above). In either case: Unless the spell describes something different, the spell does not work in your favor, i.e. it won't have any effect as there is no action to be resolved. So basically it seems to be very "unwise" to cast a spell with a sanity cost and just 1 remaining sanity point. Again - it depends on the spell and the spell description; if it says something different to what I have written here, it certainly is not unwise to cast the spell. ;)

Ia! Ia!
