A few noob questions

By Undreren, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hey, new to the game, some noob questions :)

1. What does the infinity power symbol in card titles mean?

2. We have a plot card that causes the player (singular) with most cards to discard down to four cards. What happens when largest hand is tied between more than one player?

The infinity symbol is a reminder that the card can be taken from your dead pile. Be sure to read the text for the cards special rules.

Welcome!

It's just reminder that such card can be recurrently retrieved from dead/discard pile (see its gametext).

Nothing.

Thanks for the answers. Does the RESPOND ability have to specifically say, that it is usable in the dead pile? What about the giants bastard? If he die, can i then take him from the dead pile?

Correct.

No. Cards don't work while out of play (unless specified otherwise, as you noticed).

But why would i ever want to return the giants bastard to my hand just bcause an opponents character dies then?

Different reasons.

Let's say you think that your opponent will reveal a plot like Valar next round. You decide to return him to your hand so that when your other characters die you can put him back into play. If you didn't do this, The Titan's Bastard would be dead (unless you had a save effect).

Another example is if you are running Visenya's Hill. You may have The Titan's Bastard participate in an offensive military challenge, which would kneel him out. If you win and your opponent kills a character, then you could return the Bastard to your hand. Now if you kneel Visenya's Hill and put a character from your discard pile into your dead pile, you can play the Bastard from your hand. He will be in a standing position ready to participate in another challenge.

After reading the rulebook first time i have also a noob-question.

Can i choose „cannot be killed“ characters or characters with a „save from kill“ ability as a „to kill“ target in a military challenge?

Thanks:)

perhaps my question was misleading.

If i lose a military challenge and have to determine the characters to be killed may i choose a character that "cannot be killed"(e.g. the power of blood) or has a "save from kill ability" (e.g. ser davos seaworth, lightbringer")?

You are not allowed to even try to kill a character that "cannot be killed." So if you lose a military challenge, you cannot choose a CBK character to die, then ignore the kill. You have to choose another character you control that CAN be killed - and then kill it or save it.

You are allowed to try to kill characters, then save them with save effects.

Another question.

We have tried to find cards that dictates whether it is summer or winter, but we can't really find any. When is it summer, and when is it winter?
