Swept down the river...

By Poe4, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Hey! I thought I'd ask the community for help.

I seem to remember reading some rules about what happens when you fall into a quick flowing river and are swept downstream, but now I can't find them. Did I just imagine that or have I gone blind? Anyone who knows the rules I'm thinking of and where to find them?

Not sure if there is too much on swimming in 3ed. The best instance I can think of is in The Gathering Storm, page 8 and 66 both have a little information on swimming under poor conditions but that is about it. An athletics check should be sufficient unless you have something particularly nasty in mind.

Found it! It's a small snippet on the actual 'Deep River' location card. Basically you get swept downstream if you fail an athletics test. Sounds like fun!

Thanks for your help though Errant. :)

That's all? No chance of drowning or gaining Fatigue?

Don't forget to penalize chars who ventures into water with armor equiped! :)

@Herr Arnulfe

Well the printed resources are just the beginning, the position the characters are in when they land in the "deep river" is fairly perilous to begin with (trying not to give anything away). However if a GM wanted to add more immediate consequences for multiple failed athletics tests it could be quite interesting and would open up new possibilities to explore. The rivers of the empire can be just as dangerous as dry land so any new ideas to illustrate the point are welcome.

@Poe

oh so that is where it was.... I always forget to check the cards.

My first instinct is to go straight to the book; I guess it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks (fortunately I think there is a card for that gui%C3%B1o.gif)

Anyway glad you found what you were looking for, happy gaming...

OK, if the card is adventure-specific then that reduces its general usefulness. For a normal Deep River card I would have added Fatigue results on Banes and Drowning results on Chaos Stars, or something like that.

Yes, the printed card is indeed only the beginning. Who knows what will happen, what with treacherous eddies, Reik Eel, fatigue and the GMs whims...

We'll be playing tomorrow so I'll report how it turns out.

@Errant. Yes, I did the same thing. The habit of combing the books for info is hard to break.
