From things I've skimmed here on the boards, people seem to insinuate that the black bordered Asylum packs aren't legal. Where is this in the tournament rules? I looked and looked before heading to GenCon so that I would know if I was able to build a legal deck and saw nothing. Maybe it's a good thing that I didn't get the chance to play it Worlds this year. I would likely have been disqualified on something silly that I actually did try to research.
Asylum Pack Legality
Right now, you just have to trust us guys
But you are absolutely right nothing mentioned in the recent tournament rules though I do believe you could read that info in an older version from maybe last year. The only hint is when you go to the product page and the oldest listed asylum pack is Mountains of Madness.
Wasn't there a guy who got disqualified at a GoT tournament because he used a chapter pack that was released some days ago and he didn't know the secret rule that a cp has to be released at least one week ago in order to be legal?
Most CCG's require a set to have been out for a month before they become tournament legal. I'd assume that the packs from FFG work on the same principle for proper tournaments.
It's now an LCG, so only LCG cards are legal. The black-bordered cards were from the CCG.
Still amazed to hear that at worlds CCG versions of LCG cards were allowed. Not in writing, but mentioned on the boards.
So long as they were all sleeved and the card had not changed (ie: Steve Clarney could only be played as an Agency card). I figured: what was the harm in it?
I saw some black borders at 2009 Worlds, but I didn't see any in 2010. There might have been some - I didn't play everyone - but I didn't see them.
Mixed borders sounds great. FFG never defined which reprints are different. Sure, Clarney and a few others are obvious. But it could get parsimonious.
