Home-made card holders *Now with images* :O)

By meggypeggs, in Talisman

Hi guys,

I had a spare (rare) afternoon last weekend so me and the kids had a game of Talisman. I stacked the cards in the middle of the board and had a thought...so after the game I made a card holder for the cards.

I also play alot of Warhammer and Warmachine so I had some balsa wood left over from making houses (scenery).

I painted it orange to match the centre of the board and doesnt look too bad.

Will test it this weekend if the missus lets me...

...sorry having trouble attaching the links...

I'd be interested in seeing some pics of what you have made. I might do a little article on the storage solutions people have come up with!

Oh Dear...

I have attached the URL link but it does'nt show up...any links guys for help using Photobucket...sad.gif

Find the URL for the actual image (not the image page) and use the "Insert/Edit Image" button, instead of the "Insert/Edit Link" button.

Hey, done it...

Thanks...

Ok its made from Balsa wood, painted orange to match the centre of the board and then had foam glued to the sections for card protection...

Nice work!

You seem to have enough space for the time being at least for future decks!

I like the central holders for smaller decks of cards too.

Very nice indeed :-) I think I am going to copy this.

May I suggest lifting up the card holder a bit, so that you stil can see a little of the board graphic under it.

It looks good in the orange color.

cheers

Good point about lifting it slightly but I wanted it to be sturdy...(it has a little rubber underneath to stop it from moving...)

It does the job...and no clumsy elbows knocking over the pile (like mine!)

Thanks Talismanisland for the help...gran_risa.gif

It's not to my style of play, as I prefer decks for realms stay with the realms... but I am still duly impressed!!! Nice piece of work there! And if any of the decks grow beyond what your rack will hold, that would likely be more cards than ever get used in a game.

NICE.

Well done.

Very cool. Do you put your discard piles off to the side?

I'm also very impressed by the apparent size of your table: we have to bring a second table in from the front hall to play with both corner boards! happy.gif

Nice gran_risa.gif

Very interesting

Why thankyou Zoz...

Yeah we have a big table but it still goes over the edge by an inch...

I have 1 slot where we put all the discarded cards and I sort them out after the game...

That is brilliant and simple at the same time! Nice job, looks clean! I'll have to copy you!

Well done... aplauso.gif

We have normally had the cards to the side of the board but with the expansions that is going to be impossible so the middle will be the only

place available.

Thinking about it, having character cards around the edge is going to be pretty hard unless you have a huge table.

Mmmm. <Cogs whirring>

But ... how do you and yours deal with accessing any one discard pile? I think there are various "commercial" rules for doing so on some of them. I know there are characters that get to access the top card in the Spell discards.

Well in our last game one side had the cards in and the other we discarded in the opposite side...

It made clearing up faster and to be honest I know some cards were in the box (main board creature/event cards) but we never go through every single one anyway...

I know the design could be better but we had no experiences of knocked over cards and the table looked tidy during play...

Feel free to copy it guys...hold on! Im taking this to the Dragons Den!

:o)

This is very well done!

I am liking what I am seeing.
