Picked up a copy of AH at my local bookstore. Excited for a first playthrough tonight. I expect it to be slow going as I learn the rules and game mechanics as I try a 2 man game this evening.

welcome to the asylum :) your padded cell with a view of the square is just over here...(mind that you step over the strange congealed stain on the floor on your way in)

Check out the tutorial videos by Grudunza on Youtube. They're pretty helpful at giving you an idea of the flow of play.

Thanks for telling me about the videos. Seems like they will be of help. This game looks more complex than Runebound (my current favorite from FFG).

Hope you enjoyed your game. The videos really help. The game is very complex (at least more than BSG) but still fun. Get a few expansions as soon as possible they make it a lot more fun. And I love the fact you can play solo. and Welcome to the MADHOUSEdemonio.gif

When you play solo what is the recommended number of investigators to run?

4 is usually regarded as the ideal number of investigators for a challenging game, but it's tough running 4 investigators solo if you're new to the game. I tried it and it was about as much as I could handle without forgetting things. Some people have more success with 2 or 3 investigators solo. I think you'd want to run at least 2. 1 investigator can make for a tough game.

Yeah I dont have much room when I play solo so I play with two. I tried with three but things kept falling down.

really enjoyed my first play through. 2 players, each using 2 investigators. The main issue we had was just remembering when to trigger each effect or that global effects were being triggered by mythos cards. Otherwise a very fun game. We lost to Cthulhu, but frankly we spent more time exploring the neighborhoods, other worlds and checking out monster combat than we actually did worrying too much about winning.
