I'm interested in buying the CE but I'm wondering how we are supposed to go about doing this. I can't see a place to pre-order it in the store. Are we supposed to wait until it's out and pray we get one?
Or Should I drive some unknown distance to try to find a hobby shop in my area? Can we order them online?
I wouldn't count on seeing it on the store shelves. The CE's for the last two games sold out during pre-orders on the FFG website, and I expect Deathwatch to do the same (faster than Rogue Trader even, though probably not as fast as Dark Heresy).
Amazon and other online book-sellers I wouldn't count on having the CE either. So like the rest of us, you're just going to have to keep an eye on the website.
Actually, half of the Rogue Trader CEs were sent to stores for purchase off the shelf. Only the FFG customisable CEs for RT sold out online on the website.
Still, having seen the Deathwatch CE (and it's a monster), I wouldn't expect to see many on the shelves of your FLGS.
Event center staff said the orders would be online through FFG, and I believe they said they would announce it. Shouldn't be too long, although they couldn't give a date for it.
Yeah, I'm definitely hoping they first announce when the orders go up, rather than come home from work one day and realize they sold out over the course of the afternoon.

Agreed.
Though, on the point of not seeing one in stores, that's a bummer. I think I'll keep my request in with my FLGS owner just in case they do make them available to the local stores.

Being a fan and exclusive shopper of brick and mortar shops, I'd like to see some CEs hit shop shelves, but I won't count on it. My shop did see a Rogue Trader CE hit the shelves and live there for a bit.
I got my CE of Rogue Trader from my FLGS. I was there as it arrived by sheer chance. I have always been a very good customer so when I said I'd take it they sold it to me. I was lucky that they could not find the invoice price so, it turned out, I got the book at a bargain when they set an arbitrary price rather than making me wait.
I doubt that I will be so lucky with the CE of Deathwatch so I will keep checking in here a couple of times a day hoping to snag a copy as soon as they go on sale.
