lord vs lady

By Kopos, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

hello

i've a question: when a card referes to "lord", does it also refer to "lady"? i guess one of the Direwolf card has one ability that states that when a Lord is in play, it gains +3 strength. my question is: does it also gain +3 if only a lady is in play?

thanks

No. The "Lord" and "Lady" traits are not interchangeable.

Consider the source material as well. Lords and Ladies are not exactly equivalent or interchangeable in Seven Kingdoms society either; just ask Cersei.

Or Stannis, lol. Love the CS version of him so much for that reason.

true:)

thanks!

Following on from this- if an attachment gives a character the "Lord" attribute can it be played on a female character?

As long as the character allows attachments (ie: doesn't have 'no attachment' text), you can do it. Hell, I'm pretty sure you can make carrion bird a lord if you want. Using the ability of Old Nan, you can make just about any character have any trait you want.

Traits have no relationship to anything related to the title, text or other characters of a card - and no relationship to anything assumed from the source material. It is not within the game mechanics to assume that because a character acts one way in the books that it will act the same way in the game.

Put simply, traits have no meaning other than what card effects that refer to them create. Any card can be given any trait - provided that you have a legal effect that does so.

In short, your birds, wolves, and other non-humans become royal males, and your women become transvestites. Suddenly, this game just got a whole lot better. XD
