Newb Design Question. Skills

By GalaxyUC, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

When I'm designing a character, the Career has a number of skills listed that my character should train in. In the skills column of the creation points matrix under skills, it says 3 creation points gets me 3 skill trainings and a specialization, and then 4 skills and 2 specializations for 4 creations points. Well, what if I just want 3 or 4 skills respectively and not the specializations? I know this isa wierd questions but am I looking at this wrong?

It looks like you get it, but why don't you want the specializations? They don't take anything away from your character.

I think it's a good idea to take the specializations. They help define your character, so it's good for you as a player to get into your character's role. They give you bonus dice to those activities that you've specialized in, which can't hurt either.

Just take them. It's pointless not to.

Does my character also start with 0 talents?

If my guy is a wizard apprentice, do I automatically start with the Channeling advanced skill and can I train in that skill right away as one of the skills in creation I reference at the top?

Bumping for an answer to second question

Unless you spend at least one creation point your character starts with 0 talents ...

Apprentice wizards start the game with Channeling and Spellcraft advance skills already acquired ... (This is not true for Initates)

Hope that helps!

Ooops missed part ... you can train either skill at the start but it counts against the limit of training the skills once in your first rank (levels 0-9).

And starting as an apprentice wizard (which you can do? I wasn't aware there ) you automatically gain ALL of the Rank 1 spells for that particular order? Or do you need to buy these spells like Actions?

You need to buy spells with Action slots. The basic spells are free to starting Apprentice (i.e. Rank "0" not Rank 1).
