Pistoliers and damage assignment

By MagoK, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

Pistoliers

Empire* Ranger*

Cost2*Loyalty1* Power*Health2

Action: Spend 1 resource to move this unit from its current zone to another of your zones.

Someone tolds me when Pistoliers takes combat damage, it can do 'in response" to move to another zone and it becomes a invalid target because it is out the combat zone and it doesn´t take damage, butits dameages are apllied. Is that right? If no, what is right?

thanks for help,

Kris

I think once it has been assigned as a defender, it will still be defender even if it moves itself to another zone. Same thing for damage assignment. If it's taking damage from blocking, it's still taking it no matter where it moves

I see how you would think that, what with Dragonslayers and all. Try shifting the thought from Dragonslayer to Talabheim Detachment and think about it. We probably need a ruling on this to be sure, but I think the Pistoliers can participate long enough to add power, and bolt before taking damage.

The two are totally different. For talabheim detachment, the unit leaves play when you use its special ability. The damage assigned to it goes poof in that case because there's no valid target to deal damage to. The pistoliers however are still in play so the damage would still be assigned and dealt.

The damage can only be dealt if Pistoliers remain a legal target, which they may or may not be in this case.

Or I could just read the more of the FAQ. They deal damage AND take damage. yeah sonrojado.gif
