Lost in Time and Space Question

By Kong-lin, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Hi,

I did a search to see if this question was answered but found nothing.

When driven insane or knocked out in an Other World, the investigator gets lost in time and space. The text in the rulebook states that his/her sanity/stamina is restored to a minimum of one. This is differently worded than the text for loosing all stamina or sanity in Arkham (you get one stamina or sanity back). So my question is, since it says your stamina and sanity is restored to a minimun of one, does your stamina and sanity get completely restored to it's maximum (or do you get only one back)? It is a lilttle confusing the way it is worded.

It gets put back to 1 which is the minimum you can have without going insane or getting knocked unconcious again.

Seems strange that they would word it different from the text for going insane or unconscious in Arkham. Why not just say you get one point back.

Saying you get a minimum of one back, seems to imply you can get up to your maximum (barring effects that reduce your total sanity or stamina).

The wording means that you set it to as low as possible, except for 0. Leaving only 1 point. I guess it wasn't to imply that you gain a stamina and leave the reader to conclude that you'll somehow get more than 1 stamina.

They should change the wording in the rulebook to read the same as the text for the Asylum and Hospital, you get one stamina or sanity, leave out the minimum part, if that is the intention of the rule, to just get back only one (no need to have the wording different, implies the rule is a bit different).

Regardless there isn't another mechanic that exists that allows you to get more so the end result is the same.

Yes, we played it like that at first but thought we might have gotten it wrong (had gotten some other rules wrong al well) as the wording was a bit different.

Just wanted to be sure that it was the correct way of doing it, so it seems I was correct the first time around.

I think that when they reprint the rulebook they should take out the "minimum" part and just have it read, "restore sanity or stamina to one"
