just read through the DH psy-rules and actually i think that one should jsut be able to use the DW rules instead, they're pretty much the same ecxept for the park about astropaths since that isn't cover inte the DW book but since none of my players will ever play an Astropath i'm just gonna stick with the DW rules for both system although this might seem a bit lazy i think it will work just fine. I'll probably have to do a few modifications but like i said i think it gonna work good enough (since the DW rules are the ones they know and adore at least my players won't complain about it)...
Are Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader Rules Compatible?
Of course your rank 1 RT characters will look like molasses in combat compared to any rank 5 DH character. Just look who gets more attacks, and talents. Its a non starter unless you pump up the RT characters so they can compete.
I am running a DH campaign, and there is some interest in adding RT elements. By consensus, what do you guys think would be a good leveling point in DH to be equivalent to RT lvl 1? I have come across the xp equivalent of 5, but has anyone done this in practice, and if so, where have they found it balanced.
Thanks for the advice.
Hi, there is a couple of threads on this somewhere in the archives here.
My experience was that DH characters progress about twice as fast as RT characters, so you need to reward the RT characters twice as much xp after each play session if you want to keep the power level (stats wise) between them somewhat equal.
The most optimal is that you stick to one system, and if one player absolutely must play a career that does not have an equivalent, then sketch up a new rank progression schema for that player to match the system the other uses.
It is not easy to mix character progression from the 2 games, but everything else work together perfectly - in fact I use RT combat (and general) rules in my DH campaign as it is basically the DH system with all the eratas included. The weapons in RT has also been rebalanced a tiny bit here and there.
I would not combine/convert the different Psyker-usage-systems. The way an Imperial Psyker from DH taps into the warp to draw power from it can (and imho should) be a bit different than how an RT Astropath, DW Librarian or Eldar Farseer does.
Like in Easterns the different Kung-Fu schools that train "Crouching Dragon"-Style versus the "Hidden Tiger"-Style. Let them fight side-by-side, but dont force them into one style. Only hassle and no real gain.
