A Plea to Fantasy Flight Developers...

By toltesi2, in Tide of Iron

First off I'd like to thank Fantasy Flight for a very good game thus far...I've very much enjoyed it and have bought both expansions and the Developer Series vol. 1 book.

I'd very much like to see this game polished up to perfection by the following items being addressed:

  1. Updating the scenario editor to include both expansions and thereafter updating it shortly after each expansion is released;
  2. Having themed scenario design competitions quarterly to stimulate interest in ToI much like the introductionary scenario competition that was run this past year; and
  3. Consider a "refit" package that re-scales the over-sized orginal tanks to the scale of the new expansion pack ones so my game looks great again. Frankly I was very disappointed when the scale was changed with the expansions...I have absolutely no idea why this was done. Consider this the plastic version of the upcoming map upgrade pack.

I understand that the developers are very busy but I'd really appreciate comments on the above, even if it's a simple "go back in your cave" comment. Just please consider writing that three times to address all three points!

Hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas filled with family and friends...all the best in the new year!

Anyone out there? Comments are welcome...am I off base?

For what its worth, #1 is in the works, follow the link from the ToI support page to the editor developer homepage for a note on this.

#2 could be fun, there certainly seemed to be some enjoyment and good entries from the intro scenario contest that was held. Perhaps in a similar style as done on the BGDF forum where some concepts or parameters are provided and then the designers put together their entry. The forum participants then cast their votes for the best of the lot.

#3 would likely not have enough revenue generated to make it worth re-tooling their molds. I too would like it but that's why I went out and picked up a number of 1:144 (12mm) minis (which are in themselves also a little too big when you get to some of the bigger bits like the King Tiger). At the end of the day though, from a game perspective the scale of the minis doesn't matter as they obviously get the idea across and are different enough that they don't get confused for one another.

YES, a new scenario editor would be awesome. It's been a year that I've been waiting for this (since DotF) and since I have a Mac I can't make scenario's at all. I've seen the work in progress (it's Mike Z's baby and he can be contacted on BGG) and it looked great but didn't have DotF yet, never mind Normandy. A new editor would be especially awesome now that we've got so many more things to play with in the game, and some cool example of directions people took the scenario's in the book. They (FFG) obviously have something for this, why don't we?

The scenario competition sounds great but with Normandy and the Book I'm busy for some time on the new Scenario's to play front, I'd prefer the extra work being put into Volume two of the Scenario book personally.

Errata for the Designer Series book would be awesome and is needed on at least four scenario's, maybe more.

Tank scale?? personally I don't care and can't really see much difference when playing. Also the present scale issues actually help me to tell the tanks apart from one another. Maybe I'll paint them now that I'm thinking about the issue. Apparently there is quite a few people who want new tanks to fix the scale so it might still sell O.K..

i know this lame but can you buy normandy now just got back to town
