MA vs Zeon Recovery

By dawitchy, in Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG

Hey there,

Just a little clarification on the Magic System is needed. I have ready through the forums and have gotten most of the questions I needed answered, but I have one more.

I understand how MA (Magic Accumulation) works, but I need a clarification on how/why you recovery Zeon daily.

I know that during a turn you can concentrate and raise you Zeon points up by your MA in order to cast spells.

First Question....

Do you start with your full reserve of Zeon points at the start of combat, or is this set to 0? Is this based on your Zeon points you've recovered or saved over previous combats and sessions?

I can see how you can lose zeon points by either not casting spells and getting interupted, but is that what is meant by "lost Zeon points"?

Basically what I'm asking is that if you can recover zeon points per your MA value, per turn.... why do you nead a Zeon recovery limit per day? This part doesn't make sense to me.

Please help me out as I want to know how the balance of zeon points works during the course of a battle and during recovery times.

Thanks :)

When a character casts a spell, they take zeon from their personal pool. When you cast a spell, you first need to accumulate those point (using your MA). Once you've accumulated the points, they are spent.

To cast a spell, you need to take the Zeon points out of your personal pool (your maximum, as it were). Your accumulation basically tells you how much zeon you are able to use in that round. If it isn't enough to cast the spell you want you can continue to accumulate and get more. So your total zeon and your accumulation are two different things.

Spent points are gone. If you have a total of 400 Zeon Points in your personal pool and spend 100 zeon points in a combat, the character will have 300 zeon points until either they cast another spell (in which case the poll drops even lower) or they regain their daily recovery amount.

So, once every 24 hours, the character regains their Daily Zeon Recovery amount. This can raise them up to their Zeon pools maximum, but as a result it means that a spell caster can take days or even weeks to fully recover any zeon they spent.

Thanks for the answer :)

I just seemed as if you would be going through Zeon points quite fast a low levels and it would take days to recover them since Zeon recovery based on MA is usually a lower number.

One other question....

When you purchase levels in a path, or individual spells based on the Magic Level you can get, are these points gone and where would you track them on your character sheet?

Thanks.

It does take quite a while to recharge, which is why spellcasters don't just "Go Nova" and nuke everything around them in every combat.

Spent spell levels are gone, but there isn't really a place to indicate how many you have left and how many are spent. My wife keeps the number she has unspent just off to the side in the box where you can write down Magic Path Levels on the second page of the character sheet, and she hasn't had any issues with that. Any spells purchased individually just get the number written down there too.
