When will the boat turn into a truck?

Cant we sue them for the long wait for the book when they stated Aug 2010?

They said "August 2010" in relation to Gencon, where it was available, and that was in August.

Other than that, they have never given a solid release date other than "Summer 2010", and technically, in the US at least, it's still summer until the end of September (Summer in the US ends with the Fall Equinox).

Ahh, that does make sense Millandson, i never really connected that faulty release date with gencon, oh well. So yeah hopefully it is out before sept 21 or else i am going to have a 1 man, nerd rage, RIOT! (maybe my players will join me) Look for that in the SLC news!

Agreed! Brilliant.

Technically the Autumnal Equinox (end of Summer) occurs at 3:09 AM GMT on September 23rd. Of course many businesses call September 30th the end of the fiscal quarter (summer). But I really hope the book is generally released before then.

Knowing that the book would be a Gencon release I figured it would be several weeks after the close of the convention before I could get a copy of the book, perhaps the last week in August. Just to play it safe, when it comes to scheduling games for our group, I decided to plan for the book being delayed until mid-September. Now I am starting to fear that, what I thought was conservative planning, was wildly optimistic.

Amazon postponed the delivery date of the GM screen a bit, but not much. So far they didn't touch the Core book date so I'm still putting faith in those. Putting too much faith in rumours is as accurate as reading chicken guts.

The best thing I'm doing is to try to forget about the release at all and just have a nice surprise from the postman. ^^

it's supposed to be delivered in 2 days by amazon UK, but seeing as it's still on the boat, I doubt that.

Also the GMs screen had the same date when i pre-ordered it, and thats 9th November now. ill tidings indeed

Oh looks like I might get it for my birthday (10th November)

The thing that has been bothering me since the beginning of this thread is... Autobot or Decepticon? gui%C3%B1o.gif

Ah, my bad. I hadn't realised that reading the changing date on Amazon or the FFG site was that hard. lengua.gif

J/k...

My local store has it on the 13th they say.

According to the German branch of Amazon (Amazon.de) the distributor providing the books to Amazon is not able to deliver Deathwatch, stating that they have no definite arrival date yet, therefore Amazon is not able to give a definite shipment date as well. At least that is how far the official Amazon response goes. The German site still states September 7th, UK site states 8th, Book Depository also states 8th, as the release date

Don't jinx it! Don't jinx it!

^^

That reason has never stopped the US branch from giving shipping dates.

Why is the German branch so reasonable ?

German efficiency, that's why.

FWIW, I contacted bookdepository.co.uk and this is what they had to say:

"I'm afraid we would not be sending these titles out to customers tomorrow. We are dependant on our suppliers as to when we receive titles, therefore this is not a guaranteed date that these titles will be dispatched to you. Sorry we could not be of more assistance to you."

Alex

I thought perhaps Borders had some kind of advantage with their release date being listed as today, but they now have it for online orders only with a comment that these books were on "back order", 4-8 weeks delivery time. That sounds about in line with everyone else I have encountered here in the US.

I might call my local gaming store later this week to see if they have any ideas, but the guy I talked to last week barely knew what I was talking about when I asked him before so I am not feeling terribly positive. I think it is safe to say that no one knows exactly when this will be available so I will probably just stick with my Amazon pre-order and pretend like this book doesn't exist until it shows up in October. "OMG I totally remember ordering this in August...sweet!!!"

FFG supplies the independent bookstores first and worries about the corporate chains and Amazon second. I think there's even an explanation of this policy somewhere on this site. I know I've read it somewhere.

I've worked in bookstores for years and I've been in a position to actually observe how FFG does its distribution. You can expect to see DW on Amazon and in Borders 6-8 weeks after it is in game stores.

is there a reason been posted why there is a delay or is it all just romour and speculation?

If this is true, then I should be able to walk into my local shop and grab Deathwatch this week, which is great news.

I don't know about that. FFG still lists DW as "On the Boat". I'd say DW is still at least 2 weeks away from being released in stores.

I just do not understand FFGs Information policy in this particular issue. They definitely have an arrival date for their product give or take a few days, based on that they also have a deifinite release schedule, why not reveal it to customers simply beats me. Clear communication of issues such as a shipment mishap, delays at customs and so on are common and understandable issues. And altough we are all excited about getting our hands on the book, an official statement on the reason for the delay and a schedule for release would be highly appreciated.
