When will the boat turn into a truck?

By peterstepon, in Deathwatch

Yessss !!! My copy will be sent today, just a few days left then :)

W000! Good for you! Congratz! :D

*Goes back to shaking fist at the sky*

Well it was a severe case of purchase infidelity, i canceled my preorder with amazon.de and had a long conversation with my prefered interenet store, which has a brick&mortar shop as well, they said, the book will arrive at the store next week, so i had to give my money to a different supplier. But i planned to get my hands on the book in august, as the worst case i was set for end of august, my players are pestering me for almost two months by now :) And i do not count the 300 Gencon copies as an august release. Delayed by a month, not so bad by FFG standards, but still unfortunate.

Bwahahaha! I just got news from my ebay seller that the book has been shipped today.

I canceled my amazon order as well and had placed an ebay order.

Again, muhahahahhaaa!

Thanks for your order. I can confirm that they did indeed arrive and your order has been processed for despatch this afternoon via Interlink for delivery tomorrow. Just needs to be packed and labelled.

so mine comes tomorrow it's a UK company for those who are gutted with amazon, more less same price, just you pay delivery which is a couple quid!

Where's the best place to get it from guys?

They must also have Into the Storm.

K, screw it. Cancelled my Amazon orders.

For them from Leisure Games.

I just phoned them, and left a message. I want to double check if they have it in stock. I have an order on Amazon, but they think they will ship on 10/04/2010!

My issue is the mixed reviews, from what I have read shipping is a big issue as well as customer service when trying to resolve the problem. They may have improved since then as some of the reviews are from last year, but ymmv.

Funny, but I read the same reviews and decided against using this service. If my local gaming shop doesn't get it this week, I will wait for the Amazon 20 dollars off book coming in early October...in theory. My next session is this weekend, we shall be boring pre-gen Marines once again (dramatic sigh). Now, if I am saying this again before our October session, much more grumbling and pointless nerd rage will ensue.

Q: Do you have the "Deathwatch RPG: Core Rule Book" in stock?
A: We are shipping out all orders today.

This CCG Armory place is something. I placed an order for a book. I hope they have it in stock.

Snark . . . this is like going to McDonalds and asking . . .

Q: Do you have any EggMcmuffins?

A: We are serving breakfast.

I guess this hits my pet peeve of folks not answering the question I asked. I used to do tech support, and this sort of thing would just require me to repeat myself. So I repeated myself.

I sent another email . . .

Q: Do you have the "Deathwatch RPG: Core Rule Book" in stock?

A: Yes, we have it in stock and have begun to process orders. You will get a shipping confirmation later today or tomorrow morning.

I'm not sure what kind of formula Amazon uses to calculate delivery date relative to when you pre-order, but mine was updated to Sept 30th, and so far, they haven't (yet) updated it again. Considering that many claim that FFG purposely keeps initial print runs small, I suspect that depending on where you fall in the pre-order queue, you may or may not get yours fulfilled from whatever initial batch Amazon receives. Amazon's prices are good, but they are not the vendor of choice when you have to have an FFG book on or near release day.

Personally, I'm thinking that my Collector's Editionwhich FFG has said will be shipped 8-10 week after the regular edition is for salehas a fair chance of arriving before my Amazon pre-order. This wouldn't be the first time that I've had to wait for the 2nd printing of an FFG book before getting my Amazon pre-order filled. Since I'm already splurging for the CE, I can't afford to pass up the Amazon savings on the regular edition copy just to get it bit sooner. Thankfully, I'm in the midst of 3 other games,so after waiting 20+ years, the additional few weeks I may end up waiting won't kill me since I can't do anything with DW at the moment anyways. Meanwhile, I'm using the time to paint up the figs I put together last weekend so they'll be ready to go once the book actually arrives.

From CCG Armory emailed to me early this morning:

"Thank you again for your order from CCG Armory

The following items have been shipped:

Deathwatch RPG: Core Rule Book"

Since I did overnight shipping, I should have it tomorrow. Thanks for the link to these guys! gran_risa.gif

I'll be doing that tomorrow. They typically get their big orders in on Wednesday and Friday, and I have a Dark Heresy game there that runs Wednesdays.

I'd like to read a review of the GM Kit sometime soon.

Alex

Not sure if I'll have a chance to post a review before I take off this weekend...mind you the 15 hour flight preocupado.gif should provide ample reading time... gui%C3%B1o.gif

The clerk I talked to said Wednesday is looking probable. Thursday at the latest.

I can confirm that Books-A-Million's online store is selling the book, and able to ship immediately. With next day air, as a non site member, I got the book for $60.50, and it has shipped with a tracking number, should arrive for me tomorrow.

I also got confirmation from gameslore that my copy has been dispatched... With Air Mail (barring any problems) I should have it in my hand well before the Amazon even starts to unload their shipment :P

And, funnily enough, as I'm living outside UK I'm paying less than Amazon order would be.

Courier has passed me my copy into my grubby hands, lets the oaths begin

Got my copy.
