Quest cards

By Magic Dave, in Warhammer Invasion Deck Building

After reading though quite a few decks and looking at others else where, I can see that Quest cards do not feature much. My group are getting to that stage where we are starting to build decks, and we used the Quest cards as development cards and also, as we put units in our Quest zone it made sense to give then something else to do.

So my question is, do most people include Quest cards in their decks and if not why?

Including quests depends on the deck. You probably don't see it much because the top 3 decks don't use it for various reasons: Orc/Skaven rush should be so fast that quests are meaningless, Dwarf quest choices are subpar, and the Bolt Thrower deck doesn't even have units to put on quests!

There are a couple of good quests. Wolves of the North comes to mind as the best destruction quest imho. As for order, Protect the Empire is great if you run a deck with empire loyalty. Defend Tor Aendris is basically a more expensive High Elf version of PtE but can give you resources for your trouble.

There are a few other quests that you probably will not use but might later. With new cards comes new combinations.

Smash. 'Em. All.

A lot of the quests rely on keeping a unit on the quest while it builds up tokens. Many of these do nothing until you have 3 or more tokens. Most decks will have ways to remove these units. When a questing unit is removed you lose all tokens. This makes a lot of quests really really bad.

Having said that there are some decent ones. A Dragon Mage on Protect the Empire or Defend Tor Aedris provides some great blocking. Wolves of the North can give a rush deck some added draw without sacrificing damage (although Chaos is currently very weak so you dont see much of it).

I think Protect the Empire is way better than Defend Tor Aendris because if you include these quests you also have some good blockers in your deck and most of the time you have a Dragonmage or counterstrike unit on it your opponent doesn't attack and just waits for unit control stuff. Aendris seems like it never pays itself off and Protect the empire is most of the time for free and grants you an unremovable loyalty icon.

Can't one place more than one unit on a quest? If so the tokens would stay no?
